Afc

Hey guys whats going on ... all right well I'm putting in the afc today, I've been doing a lil searching around the forum an looking through the manual for placement of the wires, I saw that we should use the M3-A Wiring diagram but I noticed it doesn't show spots for all the wires I have... Red I know is power of course black is ground (duh) along with brown , Green is RPM Gray is TB Signal an like I said thats only some of the wires I still have white, orange, yellow, pink, and blue (blue which I believe we don't use) (not sure though )....I don't know where these go an the diagram shows nothing of them.... they also say put the brown ground closer to the ECU then the black how would one do this? did you guys hardwire this or just connect it if so how did u connect it? sorry I'm asking a lot of questions just need to know I see that the ecu is behind the glove box from Link's pics but what exactlly do we have to take out to get at it? anything else I should be aware of as well hopefully some one answers soon as the time for install slowly comes down thanks a lot guys..

Also trying to put my injectors in today hence why I need to use the afc trying to see if the new rail will work as well but I doubt it will....

EDIT: all right well i just went out to the car and exposed the ECU,Need to find the electrical tape though... so i can slice dice n splice hehehe i think i figured out the whole brown black ground problem i figure you would just place the brown wire closer to the end of the ground wire on the ecu then place the black wire just a lil farther down the wire ? still no clue for the other wires... specially the air flow input/output don't understand the placement of that... for the moment i'd just like to get the power runnin along with the basic wiring lol i'm like a lil kid on Xmas oh well hopefully someone will shed some light on this soon.

use the m3-a diagram for what to SOLDER onto the ecu wires. also check out page 44 of the instruction manual on how to hook up the afc to karman type vehicles. the brown wire should be connected closer to the ecu while the black one should be about 1.5-2.0" away from where the brown wire is connected. i take it you didnt get instructions in english? if so, go to http://www.apexi-usa.com/documentation.asp to find some documentation in english.

I have both manuals they are in english just need to do more reading. i was going to soder but then just figured i could splice.. lol u answered the ground question asi answered it for myself thanks though man

Edit: Hmm aight after furtherstudying the karman setup n lookingat the setups on the oppisite page I've came to this conclusion.... I guess we only use certain wires? the other wires are there fordoing the other setups on the diff types right? and the air flow wire is that cut n one side set to input then the other side sent for output? thats kinda what i'm figuring.....and Grr still can't find my damn electrical tape LOL don't really think i'll do any tuning just yet cause i still have to wait to put in the injectors later the wrench i was gonna use is fubard at the moment LOL

the only wire that gets cut all the way through is the air sensor wire. the pink wire gets connected to the ecu side of the cut wire, and the orange wire gets connected to the sensor side of the wire. i really suggest turning it on once before connecting to the air sensor wire just to make sure everything is running right. the yellow, white, and blue wires are not used on the lancer. only the skyline.

the rest of the wires you pretty much got down. good luck

Ahh Edit: Aight well found the E-tape and!!! LOL another socket wrench so this means i can install the injectors here insted of goin out to a friends house ahh nice it's funny about a year ago this stuff woulda given me a headache an now i understand it thats pretty scary lol thanks a lot guys....

Edit: Well Well Well... Just finished the install took me about 20-30 mins then i took it for a ride everything works fine I just have the airflow sensor left to do i'm going to do that later on this morning when i do the injectors... As for now I'm just happy to say I did the install and it worked .... the tuning factor scares me though LOL still have a lot more reading to do thats all for now and rhyz thanks again for all your help luckilly your an insomniac just like me hahaha for you

No as far as I know I'm in the right spot the wire i'm looking at is (RED/WHITE) so I splice an attach the the pink an orange Now thats all done I turn on the car hoping to see the air levels and I get nothing... Like I said as Far as I know I'm in the right spot everything else comes on and reads fine.. any ideas guys? cause right about now I'm a lil confused.... so anyone that can give me some knowledge please lemme know... did you set the sensor type in the settings menu to Karmann? and also select karmann in the monitors menu, too.

Hey guys,
well I got to my friends house checked and I checked the ECU,and the AFC again.. it's all appears to be wired correctly umm the AIRFLOW SENSOR WIRE is the WHITE with RED stripping correct? according to the wiring diagram it should be cause if not then everything else wouldn't work cause it is all on the same level of the ECU you know.... so now I'm really stumped...

Edit:Well I'm back home again my friend could not figure out why the AIR FLOW wasn't reading either... so i tried to install my injectors can't exactlly get in there so easy need to try another approach..

Edit: Well no luck on the AIR FLOW hmm and no replies either LOL do I have you guys stumped? Other then that the car is handling nice lil more pep to the rpms...sounds pretty good to.. I wasn't expecting to much from this, well not at least till I finish my turbo setup so but I was kinda impressed although I was already dumping more fuel goin into this so..Ahh well hope maybe someone can come up with a soloution to this cause I'm lost now and wanting to do more work...Hmm I'm beginning to wonder if it's the wrong wire...
