header making nose

ok this is probably the 3rd thread ive asked this queston in.. noone is replying.. but got the rrm header.. it runs fine.. still got stock exhaust.. when i rev it past 4k.. as its going down i can hear somewhat of a pop.. more like a crackling?.. sounds weird but the car runs fine.. i called RRM nd they said its just backpressure cuz i still have stock exhaust so my header is choking.. any input? what else do you guys think it could be.. anything to help me understand it better

it may be an exhaust leak. when i was working on my wideband install, i stripped the threads on the cat flange where it connects to the downpipe, so i had an exceptional exhaust leak, which yielded LOUD exhaust and popping when you would let off the throttle.

come on, are you guys serious? you all don't have the lancer fart?

don't worry about it. a lot of it has to do with the rich fuel maps (the pop)..i get a small backfire EVERY time i hit open loop. as far as i know the crackle just has to do with back pressure.

there have been 3 lancers in my family and i know 2 kids in the area that had/have lancer and they ALL have done that...even stock.
