4g93 pulleys for 4g94 lancer
REVIEW:
ok ok ok so here is what you all have been waiting for
let's start off with the pulley itself. i used an Unorthodox Ultra S Underdrive Pulley for a 5g Mirage (#020910702). it is LIGHTER than the RRM pulley and exceptionally different in size (smaller; obviously). you can find the pulley at the following locations:
www.visionimports.com
www.unorthodoxracing.com
i'm sure there are other places you can find them. if you want to go elsewhere; i will let you do your own searching. i bought mine, legit, off of ebay for a few $$$ cheaper than the shelf price. you can also find many other knock-off brand pulleys that have been discussed on the mirage boards. i have read that they work just as good.
Unorthodox (red), RRM (silver), and OEM (black) pulley.
notice a difference in size?
belts. here's how i did it. bought crappy OEM belts before the install. i swapped the UDP for the RRM pulley and reset the tensioners with the OEM belts. then i cut each belt to what would be a proper fit, then i took it back to the store. the helpful attendant measured them and we found some belts that matched that length. both belts were around 1-2 inches shorter than OEM spec. here are the part numbers:
Drive Belt # 5050490-5PK1245
Alternator #5040285-4PK0725
go about the installation the same as you would with the RRM pulley (i misplaced my sheet they sent with my pulley. i'm sure you can find them on here somewhere....likely here: RRM Crank Pulley Installed)
after the install everything ran normal. i had a clean start, normal idle, etc. throttle response is more noticable than the RRM pulley. the engine rev's noticably faster than the RRM pulley as well. compared to the lightweight pulley: power difference starts to kick in around 3300rpm's, however the most noticable gains are found between 3900-redline. the car pulls harder; both sooner AND longer. powerband is beautiful. it feels as though the TRQ #'s made a welcome increase
here are 2 more pictures of the pulley installed:

so far i haven't run into any issues with the pulley. i would be happy to answer any other questions that anybody has to put on the table. i just feel great knowing i finally pulled this thing off
...i think that just about covers everything...

And since its the same belt number you guys can use Procarparts pulley to save more money.
It's good to see parts off the mirage fits the lancer as i've used some parts from you guys.

Comatose: are those dayco belts? I couldn't find them using the enitre number but the part before the "-" brings up a 5 rib and 4 rib belt respectively. Do you by chance have the lengths?
Thanks for the update- good work

mid project update....
Tuesday night: torque wrench with extensions. No good. I weigh about 300# and I put all my weight on the wrench and got no where.
Wednesday: 20" impact extension on a 25" breaker bar WITH a 4' pipe extension. Nothing.
Then a 240ft-lb impact wrench. It just laughed at me.
Thursday: found an air compressor to borrow.
Friday: bought 625ft-lb air impact wrench. That b1tch came right the fawk off.
So, don't even bother trying without air tools. I stopped because I went to Clerks II
Plus the weather went from mid 60's to mid 90's literally overnight am I'm freaking cooked- I'm going back to it tomorrow morning.

Ok final update: me likey. Install is only bad because of the bolt (and I did my timing belt at the same time to fix the belt tensioner so that sucked a little extra). My total was under $70. Pulley from eBay and I bought belts from my local parts shop (shipped from schucks.com). Thanks Coma!!!
