This thread is from the member that started the "Nitrous talk" thread,
https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...highlight=talk,
where about 75% of responses where basically don't use nitrous at all or else your going to blow your engine. The other 25% where saying use it with heavy caution and be safe.

Nitrous should only be used in drag racing; my opinion.

Like others have said before me: keep the engine and buy forged internals.
Try using the nitrous with that set-up.
BUT if you have lots of extra money, not a lot of places to go, another car, or someone that is willing to drive you where you need to go try the engine swap.

I don't understand why. The 4G69 comes in the same exact frame as the car he's driving. Mitsubishi puts the engine in the same exact body and re-labels the car the ralliart, but I don't understand how the 4G64 would fit seeing as it's found in the Galant (i think) frame, right? If I'm under/misinformed on some things about that engine I'd like to learn more.

4G64 has been done. 4G69 just has throttle-by-wire and few more smaller retarded stuff. i believe both could be done if you wanted. i wondered what happened to that guy in the UK trying to drop a 4G69 when his came with a DOHC NA 4G63.

Yeah I got a month to do this and I don't want to fabricate something in. I was just curious if the 4g64 bolts onto the 5 speed of an 03...Hopefully i can put forged internals in when I get it apart (if the cylinder wall isn't alll whacked out), otherwise I'll have to buy a stock 4G94 and start all over. I work 70 hrs a week so basically I'm gonna be up all night doing this.

I think it might be better to just get a new engine. They are very cheap and taking one out and putting one in doesn't require a lot of work.

to bolt a 4g64 into your lancer, youll have to use:
3g eclipse 2.4 engine
3g eclipse 2.4 5speed tranny / or switch bellhousings
3g starter
3g timing mount
eclipse 97 2.4 ecu or Id get a 4g93 1.8 fed spec ecu with emange
and thats how you gettirdone!

p.s. I did this swap on my mirage, thats how I know in case your wondering

any 4g mirage can bolt a 4g6x engine to the mirage transmission, the 5g mirage/2.0 lancers have the same transmission. for the 4g6x transmissions including evos, the starter is on oposite sides from the 4g9x bellhousings. so which is why, either you need to switch bellhousings, or just transmissions all together.

He's getting there. The final portion of the swap (engine) is scheduled to be done on the 14th of October.

Swapping a 4G69 into a base Lancer is no easy task. There's a lot of weird little parts that make it a pain, such as the throttle by wire, wiring harnesses (Ralliart has a 5 plug setup, whereas the other Lancers/Evos share the same ECUs with the 4 plug setup). I really think your best bet is to rebuild and bulk up your 4G94.

Its cause every engine swap question is shot down immediately cause no one wants anyone to try something new. I say go for it

i say most people justify advocating a non-swap stance is financial based. no one promotes passion of this scale anymore.
