I was wondering about the bracket that is welded in to the body. The part that the engine mount slides into and bolts in. Like in the pic below. I have one other question, if you used the complete 4g64 transmission, could you use the 4g69 axles and not go through all the mods to the 4g94 tranny?

ok, what is it that you are trying to do? what car are you trying to put the G64 into? the pic u used for reference isnt a Lancer, thats why im asking.

the axles wont work with the tranny's. The Lancer's (G94) axles are are smaller in girth to the G64 and G69 tranny's. if you try and use then other axles, the you would have to use the spindles, knuckles, hub, etc which would require you to change your wheels to a 5 lug. so you would have a 5 lug in the front and a 4 lug in the back...

This is just a fyi for those out there, it's probably already been posted. The rs/gs hardtop eclipse came with a 420a which is the 2.0l. The only eclipse that came with the 2.4l we're the n/t spyders and they only came in the gs trim. They we're sohc but as we all know the dohc head from the 2.0l 4g63 bolts up with minor modifications.

I was doing some research and what i have learned was that the 4g69 tranny blot right up to the 4g64 block so if that be the case then you should be able to use your 4g69 axles

Ok, let me clear up a few things real quick.

That pic is of a 5g Mirage/Lancer of the generation before the 02 thru 06. It was the only pic I had at the time.

As for this statement "This is just a fyi for those out there, it's probably already been posted. The rs/gs hardtop eclipse came with a 420a which is the 2.0l. The 3g eclipse came with a 4g64, 140hp, same orintation as ours engine and transmission. The 3g eclipse owners who swap over the evo motor use their old tranny which bolts to the 4g63t motor to keep it fwd. Like at the very begining of this thread, they used part of that tranny. Its very similar to the 4g69 tranny. Thats why I want to know if the axles from the 4g69 tranny will work with a 4g64 tranny. If thats the case, you can have an evo motor, mated to the fwd tranny, without the starter mounting problem.

www.dsmtuners.com is a good place to look up some 2g eclipse info

www.club3g.com is a good place for 3g Eclipse info relating to this thread and the motors that work for us.

http://www.club4geclipse.com/ is good for some 4g eclipse info that can relate to the 4g69 motor and the 3.8 v6 motors.

If you can use the 4g64 transmission, you don't have to worry about the problem about the starter. At least thats the info I have found. I was wondering, can you transfer the 4g63 Transmission gears over into a 4g64 or 4g69 transmission.

Is there any specific reason why we have to transfer the internals of the G64 tranny, I don't even know if I asked this before.

yes. the main reason is because of axels. you swap the trannies so your stock axel length still works, and you dont have to spend a ton of money on someone custom making you new axels. (differences in length is main reason, plus if you want to try to use your own axels with the new tranny, they dont fit, they are to small..)

Just out of curiosity, has anyone here come across a 4G94 to 4B11 swap yet?
