Cleaning TB + IM, HELP!

My throttle body has become rusted on the inside after sitting for about 2 years. it opens up fine, but there is rust all around it. What do you guys suggest to clean it? A buddy of mine told me WD40 but I wanted to ask here before I go crazy with that stuff on it. Also I have a 4G93 mirage intake manifold and it is pretty dirty with some white crap and a little rust, what can i use to clean this? oh and there is pieces of the old throttle bodies gasket stuck on it that I cant get out, I used a razor blade on some of it but it looked like I was scratching the metal and im sure that isnt good to do... any ideas/suggestions would be awesome, thanks.

First, I'd take the IM and TB off the engine
Then I'd clean the whole thing with brake cleaner
And finish it with a good rinse.

I used Seafoam spray to clean mine and it worked pretty good but I only had carbon buildup not rust.

Both of these items are off of the car, in my garage. Now if I use brake cleaner, what do I have to remove from them? everything? I don't wanna mess up the parts attached to them like the fuel rail, lines, etc..

If you're gonna use brake cleaner, remove everything from the TB and IM. I've heard that brake cleaner eats through rubber eventually so it's better to be safe than sorry.

You can buy as well some Throttle body cleaner at auto shops.
Works as good as brake cleaner.

For the rust, I'm not sure it will work. You'll need something else + you need to neutralize it. WD40 can be helpful, then.

I cleaned the hell out of the TB and IM before I put them on my car with guess what . . . IM and TB cleaner You can pick the stuff up at major auto stores. It stinks something fierce but its made to remove the types of deposits you find on them. As for the gasket, get all the old stuff off, not a big deal if you scartch it, the new gasket will seal it, just dont scratch anything too deeply.

Try the cleaners, then if they don't get the rust off...maybe try a Dremel flap wheel?

I took off my intake mani, bought 3 cans of intake cleaner(yes it requires a lot) and found a suitable place to kill grass/bugs/life
