Lancer <> Evo Front Motor Mounts?

Hey all, I was just wondering if anybody knew if the front (lower) motor mount in the evo is interchangeable with the one in the lancer. I was taking a look around and I noticed that evo guys have a lot of aftermarket options for harder urethane motor mounts. Lemme know what you guys come up with!!

Is it a question of bolting on to the crossmember or just the urethane bushing itself?

It's all good and well to comment on his response, but i'd like more opinions. Amby is not 100% on whether both the crossmember and bushing will not fit.

Agreed, but it doesn't rule out the possibility of them being interchangable. I don't think anyone has tried to use an evo mount on the Lancer, so how would 1 be able to say yes or no?

Since this is not common knowledge, I'd appreciate if you could backup that statement with facts.

I'd think there'd be a shot of them fitting, they look like they have very similar mounting and bushing locations...

Courtesy of Lancer Shop (http://www.lancershop.com) and Agency Power

They look strikingly similar.

That IS the most straight-out answer I've ever heard so far. How do you know Amby?

Here's my response to the OP: Yes AND No.

Take a look at these pictures:

In this picture we have two subframe crossmembers (the one on the right is off of an EVO IX, the one on the left off of an 02' OZ Rally). Both are ALMOST totally identical, the difference being that the EVO one is beefier.

In this pic you can see that ALL the bolt holes are in the same places. You make your own conclusions.

These two pics show the difference between both mounts. However... they are interchangeable.

You can use the EVO mount on a regular Lancer, but you can't exchange the bushings between the two. The EVO bushing is bigger.

Similar does not equal identical. I'm fairly certain this has come up before and the answer was no. If the bushing is bigger this suggests a difference and that difference may be enough to stop it from fitting properly. I would just go with the mount from RRM or the mount from Deyeme and call it a day. I know my answer was short and to the point but unfortunately that's what you have to do on this forum. If you get into the technical aspects of the question you tend to lose and confuse people.

I almost feel like swapping the mounts. But I have pics. Make your own conclusions people.

Here's a thread on the exact same subject (the wonders of the search function). https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ht=motor+mount
No one got around to comparing them directly but the part numbers are different. This suggests to me that their is at least some sort of difference. Feel free to try it for yourself, god knows the more options the better.

That thread doesn't show me (or anyone for that matter) anything really substantial. But I hope this shows you something substantial.

I switched them.

Ok... well for YOUR credit Amby... there were slight tolerance issues but you can still work with them...

It seems as if the Lancer one is 4/16ths of an inch lower... but then again my Lancer's rubber bushing is beat... and is hanging down a bit lower than a brand new one.

Question answered. I hope.
