it sounds like those stupid cheap cheap ebay mufflers that sound like a coffee can we think it has to do with the vibrations are going so fast now you just hear the expolsions out of the engine. but i can only explain it as crackling. so maybe a harmonic resinator will get rid of it

yep, the noise is normal. a resonator will fix the issue as kungfu said.

hum... crackling in the exhaust note? or crackling as in rattling?

if it's more like rattling, make sure the tab that bolts to the hanger on the block is properly bolted down.

I had the same setup with one of the biggest magnaflow resonators you could fit on our cars with a magnaflow oval muffler and it made that crackling honda rice sound. Supposedly magnaflow mufflers aren't too good on our cars when they get a higher volume of air flowing through them (according to RRM). I went with the greddy evo 2 muffler an none of that. When I put all the motor work on though, if the exhaust isn't warmed up and I step on it, it will make the noise. But as soon as it warms up just a tad it goes away and has a REALLY nice exhaust note.

Here is a sound clip of mine...
