~~~Project: Equality ~~~ Gtech Dyno
I have a Gtech pro, I found that you can upgrade it to the RR model with software from Gtech. So I did this a while ago and it works fine. I also now have an 08' lancer GTS CVT but have not tried the Gtech because I have no time right now. I will try to test it out as soon as possible and repost.
thanks, i have been blowing up the phones over there at Gtech but they dont seem to return any calls, goes to show you how good there tech support is.
Ralliart@PDX, if you can let me know, then I can move forward with setting up a group buy or something for the others
I do.
Anyways, I think one thing that can give us all a lot more information and is easy to accomplish is this:
Dyno your car before you install mods and then dyno your car after you install mods. Obviously the person would be using the same dyno unless the place went out of business or something that would keep them from the same place. This whole dyno issue wouldnt be a big deal if people used enough of their brain to realize that if they did a before and after things would be much more easy to look at.
But then I think half the people here just want to stay oblivious to what their car actually gained from their mods.
I agree before and after readings are great at conveying a products performance results. the problem is when it comes to multiple upgrades its a whole different ball game.
Throw on a SRI and you got a lancer which is breathing thru its mouth instead of its nose. Where things get complicated is when you throw on Headers, or Exhaust Packages. Each new addition has a compounding Positive or Negative effect on the upgrade before it. at the end your looking at a massive soup of different results. With different dyno machines its easy for the non track jock to get a little confused, and in some cases a little cocky with his results.
Now of course the Gtech is meant to gauge NET HORSE POWER, which in same ways makes a little sense. Strip out the the inflate numbers by the manufacturer and give me the net effect. Including areodynamics lol hell the win of the day. Does it screw up the results slightly. yes it does. But if we can standardize the process and the conditions for testing. Then I think we can use this benchmark to crank out numbers that are relative to the class of Lancer we drive.
After seeing a GTECH SS on a 5 speed with over 10 runs, the numbers were impressively close to the mark.
Assuming all goes well with my sponsors I am hoping to get access to some private land space / run way that will allow for a real time wireless transmission of the results. Involving more then one test car.
Of course this is something far off in the future, at the here and now level, we need to know one way or another if the CVT is compatible.
LancerGTS, should things finally get going with the manufacturer, would you be interested in donating your car body to science lol :P
comparing states using a single means is not ment to give an act reading down to
I might be down for what you have planned. If you want to PM me with what exactly you are looking to do we can chat about it all. I can tell you what I have done/doing/plan to do and what exactly you are looking for from me.
