Ported 1.8 4g93 or Ported 4g94?

Ive done some reading and ive read that a 4g93 head will put out a lil more power then out 4g94 head so i was wondering if a ported 4g93 or still be better or would it be more of a 4g94 due to the fact it has ben ported?

A 4G93 head puts out a little more power only because of the camshaft. A 4G93 manual camshaft is like a stage 1 camshaft for the 4G94 engine. The cylinder head itself is the exact same. As far as the intake manifolds are concerned, there have been many, many threads comparing both of them and where each manifold is better suited. One is better for top end, the other for low end.

I've yet to see conclusive data regarding the intake manifold and it really comes down to who you ask. As for the head,a ported 4G94 head will be better than a stock 4G93 head.

Both the 4g93 and 4g94 heads are the same. So if you port one, it would obvisiouly be better than the other.

AH! Glad I found this thread I'm going to be replacing heads soon, glad to see there's no difference. Any idea why the head gaskets would have different part numbers? I didn't realize I was getting an older mirage head, so I had already ordered the cylinder head gasket for the 4g94...should I just plan on returning it and getting the mirage gasket?

Either way, I'll find out tomorrow when it gets here....just being impatient. I'll post pics

Head gaskets are different because of the different bores on both engines. 81.0mm on the 4G93 and 81.5mm on the 4G94. Using a 4G93 head gasket on a 4G94 engine is a big no-no.

It's like a stage 1 cam for our cars, so yes.
