Damn it guys!

I made a new thread earlier about my engine light coming on. Well they figured out the problem and it was the fuel sender. So they ordered the part and now they are saying that it is on back order and wont be in for a while. What am I spose to do IM starting to get mad seeing that light stay on everytime I drive my car. Well just wanted to vent some gas. Thanks guys.

More of a rant than a tech post...and if it's really bothering you that much, pull the bulb out or don't pay attention to it.

Thanks

Thanks pajal! BUt I dont think I want to bother taking off the whole dash to get back there. I was thinking of maybe a new part that I could use or maybe what car I can go to the junk yard to get another one and bring it to the dealer for them to put it in.

What do you mean by "fuel sender"? Is it the fuel rail? Or an injector(s)? It seems completely possible to get the part off of a Mirage running a 4G93...better to ask some of the Mirage guys that have started popping up here now.

Mirage board members

Ask dude in a mirage, Bahamut or maybe even Mitsiman from RPW.

Those are the other members of the mirage board that I have seen frequenting here. I wish I could help you but I just don't know that much about the engines and I have an OZ too.

fuel sending unit is bad? So your gas gauge doesn't work correctly right?

It is super easy to change. Step one: pull the backseat bottom cushion. Step two: pop the metal cover in the center of the back seat bench. Step three: undo about 6 or 7 tiny nuts/bolts (like 10mm or smaller). Step four: pull it out and unhook wires. Step five: go ahead and see if one from any mirage works (the 1.5L/1.8L/coupe/sedan mirages all use the same fuel sending unit).

Then again this is obviously some type of work that should be a recall if they have so many people having problems that they are on backorder...

Uhm...why? Pretty much nothing short of a turbo or a highly modded NA beast is going to need the extra fuel...

Not exactly. After the basic I/H/E, I would reccomend it after a lot of mileage. Don't do it for just I/E.

I changed my stock fuel pump to a GSX after 63K . . . NA cars can use the GSX fuel pump. The GSX pump gives it a bit more pressure (not so high that the injectors will get stuck) and extra delivery of fuel over 5K in rpm (in the past, my car was starving for fuel a bit). Also, I had to tune it for my auto tranny since it was running rich at idle and was giving me bad MPG . . . don't know how it will affect manual cars.

This is not the aftermarket Walbro units either 190 or 255 (don't reccomend them on NA cars at all!).

Besides, it's good about 200-250 HP (rough estimation) worth of mods, and the GSX guys usually tear those unit out.

Only 3 people that I know of have done this: Dude in a mirage (1.8 - manual - think he yanked his out after a couple of month using the GSX), Phenotype (1.5 - manual - S-AFC - FPR), and me (1.8 - auto - tuning it via throttle cable). All of us have different experiences w/ the mod.

Thanks guys!

Thanks guys. Yeah I had no idea what a fuel sender was. The first thing I thought was the fule pump which I think thats what they are refering too, but on the ticket it actually is writen fuel sender? Maybe they just put that so it souded really simple and they thought I didnt know that it would be called a fuel pump? Well anywho I will check on all of this and get back to you guys. Oh and no my gas guage is working fine and I still get around 300 miles a tank so I dont know what to tell you. Well as soon as I get it replaced I will pu up another post. Catch you guys on the flip side.
