new intake,wierd idle

okay so i just bought an intake system..
fought wid the maf to get it unbolted..
put the new filter nblah blah.. blahh... start up my car its fine take it for a drive and come back the idle is around 600 and bounces between 1000ish to near stalling and sometimes stalls out, CEL turned on after driving it one more time.. any advice on how to solve this? or is this even common? im pretty sure(not 100% but ill check them again tomorrow) everything is bolted on tight.

Is there a gasket in between maf adaptor and maf? A leaking maf causes a lot of incorrect signals relayed to the ECU so check that for starters.

Did your intake kit come with a MAF adapter?

okay update.. so i checked the maf.. and sealed it wid gasket maker.. bolted all back up drove my car and it was fine.. cruzed around for a few hours.. when i went to my car again to start it all my elecrtical was not working as if i had a dead battery... so we jumped the car to find that my battery was loose.. okay maybe my fault.. then start the car agen but once i start the car it sputters and dies.. it did it everytime i tried.. about 6 tries..

so out of curiousity.. i unplug the wires leading to the maf and try start the car.. now the car runs perfectlly fine.. did anyone have this issue? i mean from what a friend of mines wid a 240sx said was his car is the opposite, take off the maf sensor car dies..but why did my car work better without the maf plugged on?

i had that issue but that was because my MAF was not in good condition as in the honey comb shapes where obstructed.

hrmm.. sounds like you are mising a vac line or possibly something with the maf is dissconnected. you shouldnt be having any problems with just an intake swap..
check all the connections and make sure you didnt leave anything undone (also make sure the maf is pointed the right direction, i know the stock maf enclosure is direction sensitive)
