please help.. turbo/IC 03oz

hey guys... needless to say that i am new to lancers and just turbo's in general.

i have a 2003 OZ rally lancer/ EVO VII conversion(full body kit).
the turbo is set up in the car, turbo timer and all.

my problem right now is the intercooler..i dont have one.
i know you get more power if you have an intercooler.

im very low on cash right now, so is it right for me to keep my car in idle for a minute or two after ive used it?
its silly, i know i will need an intercooler.......so .......any advice on what cheap/effective intercooler to get?

thank you!!

No intercooler at all? How many pounds of boost are you hitting? I'm scared your car won't hold the compression and the heat. I wouldn't recommend driving at all right now without the intercooler.

what are you looking to spend? I think that would give us an idea on what to suggest.

I would go to the nearest junkyard and look for a stock intercooler. Preferably a side-mount intercooler off a eclipse. If your not boosting too much it should hold and be okay.

With or without the intercooler you have to let it cool before shutting the car off.
I think you have the wrong idea here on what the intercooler does

yea i tried up ... ebay.. :\

i was just seeing if u guys had any advice on the brand name or anything. im trying to do some research, and im not sure it matters if i get an evoviii or eclipse ic kit, both about $300. i was gonna wait until i get my evovii bumper installed so i can do a fmic, but like you guys said, i might not have the time to save up for a more expensive ic.

I think i read that he has a turbo timer to let the car run and cool off. I would set it to atleast a minute. At 5psi you should be safe without a intercooler and wow making 200 whp with just 5 lbs of boost...thats good. In the long run you will need a intercooler. All you need is the piping and it doesn't have to be a brand name.

A stock Evo FMIC or even a SMIC from a DSM/VW/Volvo would be fine. You can run w/o one if your tune is safe though.

again, thanks for the advice guys.

i think ill do some searching around for an ic on the internet
and ive never done junkyark before, so i might look at that a little bit drjohn.

ill try and look for a fmic at good price, i dont see what the point of getting an smic if im just going to sell it a little later on and switch it to fmic

I use to run 6psi on a RPW setup with a gt28r non-ic for about 4 months before i did my ic setup. Its just less power due to higher iat's.

The ebay cores are fine for low boost cars like used here. A decent muffler can make the ic pipes for you, it just finding one willing to do the pipes is the hard part. If you cut and mark the pipes, you can find someone to weld them for you. The $300 core and generic bends should have everything you need to get the job done since thats what i used plus another 1-2 bends
