are there any MAF problems

has anyone experienced any kind of problems with their MAF sensor? currently i own a 2000 jetta vr6 and i had my maf break on me a few times. i am going down to the dealership in a few days to get my 2002 lancer es, bang!!!

The Lancer seems to be MAF problem free unlike the VWs and Subarus
