E cutout for our lancers

I heard an evo with an e-cutout exhaust and it sounded pretty good. I was just wondering if anyone has put one on a lancer or have heard one on a lancer and if it sounds good and worth getting one. Thanks for the help guys!

most likely....the best exhaust design going for performance is, actually, a 6" long straight pipe coming off the header. have you ever heard that NA cars need back pressure to make more power? total bull****. just think about it.....if there is back pressure in the exhaust, keeping the piston from traveling up in the cylinder at full velocity, you lose a ton of power and waste a ton of gas. if there is no pressure in the cylinder keeping the piston down during exhaust phase of combustion, it can move as fast as possible, resulting in more HP and TQ, but probably too little to notice anyways lol thats why turbo cars all say the best exhaust for performance is a straight pipe....no pressure from the exhaust pipes means the turbo wheel can spin faster, and sooner, resulting in faster spool up at lower RPMs. when i was turboed, and switched my 2.25" catless, resonatorless exhaust, for a 3" catless resonatorless exhaust with much less bends and a BIGGER muffler, i got about 30-40 whp. that whole entine exhaust cost me $250. thats $250 for ~35 whp. what do you get when you buy the AEM CAI? about 7 CRANK hp for about $350. I miss that exhaust so much...

yeah you would most likely get more horsepower than an exhaust, but again the car is NA so you wouldnt notice much of a difference between am exhaust and cutout. personally if i was going to just get a cutout anyways, I would ONLY get the cutout....then your car would be completely stock when its closed, but with the flip of a switch, you get the sound and extra power! my friend had a WRX with a cutout and did 2 dyno runs, one with the cutout closed, and one open. when he opened it, he gained 30 whp....but then again he was turboed lol

I think I would have to upgrade my pipping b/c the smallest kit for the e cutout is 2.25? or would the e cutout fit on the stock pipes? Is it a good idea just to get a cheap exaust just to take some weight off the stock exaust or it wont make a difference? Sorry guys im a newbi

our stock piping size is 2.25. losing weight is never a bad idea! haha but id say just get an axleback to replace the stock big *** pancake muffler

yeah if you really want to also lose weight, get a cheap axleback exhaust and the cutout, but make sure to get the cutout installed BEFORE the CAT! (as in between the header and cat) hopefully you have a FED car, not PZEV, and you can just pretty much replace that little midpipe with a cutout. get it welded in there. and np man!

lol FED or PZEV exhaust, basically if you bought ur car from Jersey or Cali, or anywhere else. if it is a PZEV, it will have 2 cats, on directly after the header and one under the car after that cat. if you have a FED, it has only one cat, and in place of where the first cat would be from a PZEV, theres is just a straight section of pipe.
