I have got the first 1000 miles on my lancer today. I changed the oil and replaced with some mobil 1. I cut the filter open. If you look you can see small filings in the filter. This looks exactly the same as when I bought the car a year or so ago and cut the filter open. I also notices small amouts of orange silicone gasket maker. This is from the machine shop. They used orange when re assembling my head. I am still having some noise out of the lsh adjuster. Nothing too serious, but really annoying. I am sure that the machine shop when cleaning the head sprung one of the springs on the lash adjuster. As far as performance the only noticeable difference is how fast the motor revs up and how fast it drops off. It is quite different than it was stock. Winds up alot faster and drops off even faster. The first few days, I was leaking oil down on the piston when it set for more than a few hours. So it smoked for a sec when it was started in the morning. Kind of like when the valve guides are worn., but it quit after 300 miles. Hasnt smoked since. One thing that I have noticed is that it is running rich, which is a good thing if you are boosting, right now I am not and I havent determined what the cause is. I threw a codes at 74 miles and have since reset my ECU several times. It is the O2 Sensor code. I think that the leaking of oil on the pistons had something to do with it cause it hasnt dome it since. I will post more later,
