you can't use a socket to get the o2 off without cutting the wires, i don't remember what size to use, but if you can find someone with an o2 sensor socket, that would be your best bet.

i thought it was 17mm, thats what i used. and a breaker bar on my wrench. also... go to autozone or something similair and pick up a can of this stuff called PB Blaster. spray it on the bolts, wait 10 min, tap them a little, then reapply. 10 min later again, the bolts should come off with ease

in reality you best bet is to get a striped bolt kit the like 50 bucks but worth every peny just put it on and when you cant budge it dont use wd 40 crap or a breaker bar just yous your legs put you fot on the wrench and push will come off no problem usely you legs are typicly 3 times stronger then you arms

im pretty sure his lancer is the same as ours, try and provide some help instead of negativaty. just find the wrench that fits best and use some PB Blaster to break the rust/metal bond if it wont come off.

My favorite tool is my trigger start torch I tried every damned thing on the planet to get the O2 sensor off: sensor socket, PBlaster, 7/8" line wrench. . . no moving. Add a little heat (get the bung reddish- don't apply too much heat to the O2 sensor itself) use the 7/8" line wrench and PUSH! Using a little more of the Blaster won't hurt here either.
In terms of the bolts that hold the effin thing on- I can't remember but an impact wrench wil be invaluable, and for that ONE bolt, all of the above about the O2 sensor applies, too.

Good Luck ,dude!
