Exhaust Sound

I've installed my kamikaze headers & downpipe today.

My problem is that when i get over 3k rpm, it sound like civic... lol. Like if i had an vtec at 3k.

But lower than 3k, the sound is loud and awesome, so if i get a resonator + new high flow cat + Dynomax VT.
Would it help getting louder?

Resonator = Test pipe? Or im wrong

The sound you're hearing over 3k is very common on our cars.
I had it and here is my two cents;

I found that the flange gasket was not sealing tight enough and needed to be replaced with a thinker one.
I could clearly see carbon streaking on the old gasket once off.

I would assume this is your "civic" sound as well.

It is just enough that it creates a exhaust leak when under high load.

mci - question do you have the part number for the exhaust gasket or could using two gaskets work as well or no??

get a resonator it should lower the sound, but thats because your N/A the sound travels through hollow pipes, with a turbo it reduces the noises while creating power. If you get a resonator with your setupit will make your idle alot quieter as well as upper rpms. It also depends on the muffler you have as well I had a magnaflow which was stuffed very well reducing noise as well as not robbing the power.

so your choices is new muffler or resonator as your cat/test pipe

I don't remember it.
I just took my old one to a parts store and matched it up to a FelPro.

On my old setup I had the header , test pipe with stock exhaust . It actually felt faster than with a greddy exhaust and magnaflow .

which gasket you talk about? Header to head, header to downpipe or downpipe to the cat?

I've got the Ractive fireball muffler + Racing cat ( What was wrote on the box.. lol ) it mean high flow?

Someone told me that might be the downpipe was making this sound

I'm talking about anyone of your 2 hole flange gaskets.
They are notorious for leaking if they are not thick.

Could be wrong but if what you are hearing is a fast popping sound at high rpms then that's what it is.

The header is what gives you that "ghey" civic sound. I'm assuming it's an equal length header?

Well i changed the muffler recently, it sound lot quieter.

What i exactly got is : Kamikaze header (2½) + downpipe³(2½) + Racing Cat(2½) + Custom 2¼ catback and a dynomax muffler VT.

The sound doesnt sound bad on idle and rev it, but when i put gear and move, it sound acute in a certain rpm range and Throttlebody full open it sound worse.

-Adding resonator would only make less noise and add more resist? right?

-Using stock downpipe would change something? About the sound and power?

-Ill try to get high flow cat from magnaflow and see..

THNX ALOT for you help! im despair lol
