hey, i have a new proposition. i think it may be the downpipe actually rubbing against the chassis, because i looked under there and it is touching and im thinking, when i turn on my car the vibration makes it move and it makes some weird noises. so i think its the downpipe, its not the same as stock

nah dude, the damn down pipe was not made to mimec the stock one, and the stock one was made to fit and NOT rub. kamikaze didnt even consider that when they made ours, which sux cuz now i sound like a F^$^&^$%$ honda. oh well, either i take out the DP and heat it and pound it down to flatten it a little or put some kind of rubber where its rubbing-but it might melt down anyway.

the pipe will clear the chassis just fine... you just have to have the catalytic hanger adjusted.

If it's rubbing you'll feel a weird vibration in the car, and so forth. And I could see it being linked to shifting. I had the same problem myself when I first intalled it, but it was also partially because I have an aftermarket exhaust system.. and the hanger was very tight and high. Just get it adjusted, don't bash in the pipe.

Kamikaze made the DP the right way... you don't want flats, or neckings or so forth in that pipe. That's why it is one nice big round pipe.

Later.

I listened to/watched the video. I don't hear anything wrong in the exhaust. It definitely has a raw sound to the exhaust, a little of the lawn mower sound . I'm going to pretty much just wager that it's the fact that you don't have a true resonator or a catalytic. If I could find a way to record mine I'd do so... I'll let you know.. I may have a chance to do so if my brother gets some equipment... but yeah... nothing "wrong" with the exhaust tones. I don't know if you hear what you are worried about in that video, but I certainly can't. I'll listen to it on a good stereo system tomorrow night and see if I pick up anything else... but as of now, you just have 4 cyl exhaust that doesn't dampen enough to cut off the "lawn mower" tones of the car.

lol ok thanks, that was with the silencer out, and i usually drive with it in, so maybe thats why that certain tone i hear wasnt there, but it might also just be while in the car ... for some reason.

I think im definatly going to go to a hi-flow cat sometime once it gets warm out and i can install it without being a popsicle.

PS - anyone read anything on how to make a DIY MIL Eliminator?

thanks

wow that (sorry IILANCER) sounds horrible. that sounds about as ricey lawn mower sounding as ive heard. If i got a hi flow cat and the maganflow 2.25 catback with the 3.5 inch tip will it be much quieter and deeper than that?
