Question Unusual wiring harnesses 03 Oz

I go to look at my ODB2 port and notice something odd. OBD was not actually mounted but just resting in the "dock" so to speak (its functional but its not mounted to bracket). Then I see a white harness similar to ODB but on one wire is attached to the back. Look..

No idea the use of this but its 6 pin and attached behind the in car open hood latch.
Which is in close proximity to a toggle switch that was first claimed it was there when he bought the car...then tells me he had some led lights after confronting him about this.

The car has a ground wire kit that looks extensive but not unusual due to sound system but I have ran grounds for bigger audio set-ups a 1/4 of that size.

Car has many aftermarket bolt ons and I have been stopped near a local shop he used to work (performance shop) thinking it was him. Retail shops saying they have seen this car (He lived 30 miles away).

Finally curiosity kills but I still can make out WTF this red hand held. Looks kind of like a scan tool to me,

electrical tape covering many wires.

Any Ideas? My only thought is the car has used alternate standalone ECU, flashing or programming.

Can I drive the car with a IPad maybe?

A very messed up port. It looks like someone got mad and shoved a scan tool up it The other harness might be to the ignition?? I know some turbo timers for evos use that area. It has a power source so maybe thats what he was using to power the leds?

As Ryan stated that white connector down by your obd port is the connector to reprogram your ecu. Take a picture of the front of the red handheld unit so we cann see what it looks like.

This picture was taken prior to purchase of the car. The "scan tool" was his so I have no option.

Im pulling the ROM and looking back at any adjustments have been made if and when ECU flashes have (assuming) happened. Looks like someone didn't want to use the "right angle" of the port and dismounted it. Just thinking out loud.

I had some awesome tuner shop that pulled the file (hex format per OpenEcu)

To their credit they primarily focus on subas and honda by request. Iv compared a few "factory" files online and a factory blue print per XXXXXX Mitsubishi

obviously flashed and interestingly enough DE-tuned compared to online references or MUT. (guy either just dropped raw data values or flashed a smaller block (maybe mirage 1.8 and left a few values untouched by mistake. )

Anyone recommend software I might be able to find a footprint of date, year, month flashed? Assuming he didnt change the time format of his pc. Found another harness. 4 pin. similar but smaller located under and behind glove box.

Anyone with knowledge base in value reading and can compare to "factory" Ill happily send you the file, its hex formatted per OpenEcu but thats not what was used to write this data.

Yup its a ecuflash file. Widely used here for tuning mitsu's and subies. What bolt ons does it have? Sounds like someone just had an na tune put on it after his bolt ons. Are you having drivability issues or something? I have many stock lancer roms if your wanting to flash back to a stock rom. Of course you need a cable to do any flashing. As long as you keep that original tune you can always flash back. I dont think you can find out when that was flashed, at least not using ecuflash to my knowledge.

Wow this is odd to have you post as I was writing you a PM that got deleted. I've been reading your build post for hourS. I agree. I think bolt ons and a tune (which has been wiped) this car did some impressive things. It drives great. No cel but it really depends on a factor I cannot identify , I can get a great hook up in first due to suspension upgrades and break loose in to second. Other hand it can drive like the factory setup for some reason.
Bolt on:
KN Sri
eBay head?
4-2-1 down pipe
Metal cat
Had the extended exhaust but it was terribly annoying so I switched it back to a shorter pipe and 2.25 magna flow. Low tone but not obnoxious 4" straight low tone
The car and all PCM modules are grounded very well
Agency short throw
Nice sound system
Claimed NGk wires and plugs
Among others I'm forgetting

Yes I do want to tune (well aware you have roms per your build thread (addicted!)
I don't have the $ for tactrix but elmscann 5 compact on the way at least for data logging. Would love flash capabilities but I have convinced myself it's possible with out that brand of cable. Maybe ignorance to cables will prevail and say tactrix is only option. Would graciously accept advice regarding options. Feel free to post here or PM.

Build thread will get me fired today I'm sure!

Much appreciation to info recieved and to be recieved!

Lol Im glad my build thread is giving you some good info that was exactly my intent. I wanted to throw as much info in there as I could to try and help others wanting to do the same thing. Dont go getting yourself caught though Compared to other cars tuning options our ecuflash (free software btw) and a cable is DIRT cheap especially considering the vast tunable items using this program. I have the 1.3m tactrix cable I bought off another member here for $100 and its by far the best $100 I spent on my build. Your welcome to send me the file if you wish I can compare it for you Maybayus123@yahoo.com

Are you running halogen or HID? Thats a bigger issue than just a bulb and/or fuse change. If its a stock bulb be sure its the same wattage as OEM. You could try running a larger fuse if its all factory spec bulb. If you have a sound system setup thats not spec? If its all OEM then you have a surge issue or you are pulling too much power from the battery. See if your car is grounded. People will call ground wire kits snake oil until they fry a laptop or ecu then they get the idea. Are you flashing or running. "Chip"? Could be many things need more details on mods and setups etc.
