Advice on a CAI
Advice on a CAI
I have an 08 GTS 5spd and am looking to upgrade the intake. I currently have a takeda SRI, but it rattles when I start accelerating from a stop. I really like the K & N series, as I really dig the red piping. Does anyone know if the K & N CAI is compatible with the 4b11 N/A motor? I have tried to look it up, and I can't seem to find anything either way.

either way, if its installed properly it shouldn't rattle at all.
i would try to sell that takeda and get a K&N SRI
but if you're set on a CAI my friend has an injen for his 4b12 and it sounds amazing and he said the gains are fairly noticeable too. i think you should look at injen and AEM, i've heard good things about AEM too and for sure they have em for 4b11
I really like the K & N because of the red tubing (red being my favorite color and all). I was hoping that I could use it, however I am doubtful. I am probably going to end up getting an injen, as I hear they are louder and produce more power then the aem system.

injen is a great choice, only hear good things about it and if you're set on a CAI then that's the one i would personally pick.
have a look at the K&N SRI though, i have it myself and absolutely love it. The sound is awesome and you get some noticeable gains in the lower band RPMs. Not to mention K&N is a really well known and reliable brand for intakes so you know it won't throw any CEL codes or give you any issues. comes with a heatshield too and you don't have to worry about hydro locking your engine

I am more or less sold on the CAI. I'm at a toss up between the AEM and the Injen. The Injen uses an oiled filter system and sounds like it might require more maintenance more often. I also read that the AEM sits higher off the ground leading to less chance of water damage. Anyone have any input?
