2 Year Old Swap!
2 Year Old Swap!
It has been 2 years since I did the engine swap on my 2002 Lancer OZ. I am happy to say that my 4g64 swap is still running strong. I would like to turbo the engine at some point, but right now I am very satisfied with the overall performance and reliability of the engine. This is one of the most gratifying things I have ever completed.
It is amazing what 20 more hp does for a 2600lb car...

The 4g64 is definitely the way to go. It only takes a little modification the the motor mounts. I think that is the most complicated part. Besides that it is really simple.
Good to hear! I'm also building a 4g64 but it's still in the garage waiting for me to save up some money to take it to MAPerformance and the lower end built up. How's gas mileage fair compared to the 94?
iv read so many pages on the build threads for the 4g64
and im really excited to do the swap
but what did you do? were you already driving stick?
cause im auto so im going to have to get more for the swap to manny.
just want to make sure lol how long did it take you?
what about cost and such.
i like doing my h.w for this lol

Sorry guys about the very late response. My car was already a manual tyranny. And gas mileage kind of sucks right now. I am working on replacing bad sensors from TPS to MAFS and any others that might be bad. Over all this car still runs great even with the hesitation on acceleration. Once I get that worked out I'll be back in biznaz.
As for cost it was about $1500 when I put it in and it took me months to find a good engine. But once I had one the actual work only took about 3 days. Believe it or not the tranny was easier to find than a good engine.
Somewhere on this forum is my build thread.
