My oz rally motor is ticking
Another thing, if you are leaking oil from the bottom middle bolt on the exhaust manifold, the bolt itself actually plugs an oil gallery in the head. Maybe it needs to be tightened or sealed.
Motor
.
I would have to try that out, but i replaced the valve cover gasket and the spark plug gaskets and the third and fourth gasket was junked and loose. There was oil all in the 3rd cylinder and a little in the 4th. But i ended up replacing the spark plugs with some brand name stuff and buying new coil packs and plug wires and it's idling perfectly now. The ond valve cover wasnt sealed right and leaked down the back but i still have the issue with the oil coming from that screw so i will havw to try to get some sealant for that screw and redo the manifold gasket as well.
And i have tried to tighten the bolt that the oil is coming out of but it's pretty snug.
One way to check for rod knock is to remove spark plugs and insert a long screwdriver in the cylinder to rest on the piston. Then manually turn the engine over with a wrench until the piston is on its way down from top dead center. After an inch or so, push down on the screw driver and listen for any play in the rod.
