Thumbs up AEM CAI Installed

Yesterday, I got the CAI, and today for lunch I installed it. The installation was pretty straight forward, but I'll warn anyone who reads this to verify that all the contents listed in the manual are acutally in your package!!! Mine was missing a 2.75x3" silicone coupling, but luckfully, a local speedshop had it in stock. One more warning... I had a hard time removing the MAF from the stock airbox, I broke two of the plastic holder dealies on the inside... After install, I revved up the engine, and didn't notice anything spectacular... But once the car was in gear, it was like night and day... First gear is kinda quite unless you gun it, but second thru fifth are hella louder... A deep bass tone underneath the viverant roar of the engine... noticiable power gains, I don't need to downshift to go from 65 to 80... I highly recommend the AEM CAI, I'm having the By-pass installed this weekend as it requires cutting
Otherwise, its a freakin' awesome product!

Where is the filter placed, if I may ask? That's the one thing I wanted to know... probably the same place as the Injen, but...

The filter element is in front of the left wheel, in between the bumper and the fender wall... You need to remove some of the fender wall pieces for the piping to fit and for easy access for later filter cleaning... I'm gonna post some pics later (when I fix my camera )

The whole package was $275 shipped
THat was the CAI in power coated blue with the optional By-pass...
All this and more from Adventon.com
Since I know a lot of you cats don't think about shipping... the intake was $201.72
and $38.69 for the By-pass... Funny thing about the by-pass... Two weeks ago, AEM's site had it listed as 20-401S for the lancer... but Now it's listed as N/A.... Hmmm...

Could be because on the recall on the old design of the bypass valve. now they use foam instead of metal and guaze.

From the install description it sounds almost identical to the Injen CAI. Even the fact that the bypass requires cutting spells one single pipe to me.

Rob, how long till you get pics of the AEM CAI up on the site? I'm curious as to how it compares with the Injen as far as piping goes. I'm guessing damn near identical.
