Engine timing question
Engine timing question
What's up guys I have a question someone might know, I have a 2005 lancer es I'm trying to figure out how to get the timing on the camshaft correct, I have two pictures here one shows an arrow right next to the bolt that holds the cam shaft crank pulley and a mark on the pulley probably that's the obvious mark to use but I'm not too sure, I've looked at the FSM manual but couldn't find what I was asking for so I figure I ask a bunch of pros on here.
so more about the car it had a problem of not starting right away, sometimes it started on the first try other times it took me like 5 to 10 tries then it worked anyway my dad crashed it into a pole or went in a small ditch or something it was still working then all of a sudden stopped all together so head gasket was replaced and trans fluid was put back in but never started again, so after a year and a half it's been sitting when I came home I started to check and replace things still has not started.

Pictures
If you can see on the tooth it has a line on it
On this pic you can see the little triangle near the bolt on the right side
So which one of these do you have to line up to re time the engine
Stuff replaced
Fuel pump and fuel line, spark plugs, battery, fuses all good, ignition switch and the other one lol sorry forgot what it was called, starter is good and alternator.
I'm thinking it might be the wiring under the dash or in the hood that will be replaced next.
Or if anything just say f*** it and say bye to my girl and send her to the yard

Got it started
I figured it out, the crankshaft sensor plate behind the crank gear needed to be lined up to the timing mark too, holy crap that was longest time it took me to fix this also found a thread that that helped out thanks to thier post.
