engine swapping questions
hi everyone just had a quick question regarding engine swaps and if anyone has done them. So I've currently got a mitsubishi lancer es that's the 2004 model year with a 5 speed manual transmission and I was wondering if I was to engine swap from the current 2.0litre to a 2.4 litre mivec engine (is from a 2005 lancer) would it impact or have any problems? my current engine has 97,000 kms and the mivec engine has very close to 65,000kms. the mivec engine is off a wrecking car that has been hit in the rear so I don't think there would be any damage to the engine and it comes with the ecu and all the cables and mounts needed for it. This becons my last couple questions,
do I have to get anything else for it? (new transmission, subframe, etc )
if I was to put the engine in the car is there anything that I need to upgrade along with it?
is there anything else I need for it?
cheers for your help

The sub-frame should be the same for the 2.4 MIVEC and 2.0 just make sure you use all the mounts from the 2.4 (Someone correct me if I am wrong) but you will need a trans for it. The 2.4 and 2.0 have the same gearbox but the final drive and bell-housing are different. I think you can swap the bell-housing from a 2.4 trans onto the 2.0 trans. I've also seen talk about swapping the non MIVEC 2.4 4G64 trans on the 4G69, given they are in the same family I would think that would also work.
Can anyone else help confirm?
