2.4 Engine Knock/Tapping
2.4 Engine Knock/Tapping
Hey guys my 2015 Lancer 2.4 recently started a heavy tap and I believe its coming from the valvetrain.
Compression is good all between 180-197.
I did put camera down each cylinder.. didn't see any kind of contact on the pistons.
All intake and exhaust valve clearances are good except one intake is about .26 - .27mm (suppose to be between .17-.23)
But i don't think that little difference would cause such a noise??
There's no hydraulic lifters so what could cause this? Any advice or ideas is appreciated.
Thank you

Hello @Justin Tree
I listened to the VID & yeah certainly is not right. You obviously took the valve cover off & didnt find any of the rockers loose, cam chain, cam mounts etc?
I would get those valve clearances corrected and check again unless you have done that already?
Hard to believe it could be rod bearings w/the low mileage noted but that crosses my mind as well
