you should be able to reuse the pivot cup.. just be careful when removing. its very easy to install this.

I managed to re-use one of the two pivot cups, learning from my mistake after i broke the first in half. Cost me $5 for a new one and an extra 30mins to put it in. Taking it off with the edge of a table worked for me the second time but does it fly away.

Your best bet is to get the retainer and cups anyway, save your old shifter with the original parts on it.. (trust me, its worthwhile to throw it in a box and save it)

The install is the same for the Lancer and Evo..

Its not a hard install, took me like an hour. I'd recommend replacing the shifter base bushings at the same time. To get the pivot cups off I just put a towel around them and used a wrench to pry em off. Took like 10-15 min.

Yeah, I wrapped a hand towel around them and used a pair of channel lock pliers to get the cups off. I would have bought new ones if the instructions had mentioned it at the beginning instead of half way through when I'm stuck in a garage with a car with no shifter

btw, I believe you're supposed to use lithium grease. Don't just get WD40 or something like that, it might eat the plastic.

And grease the heck out of it. When I did it, I kinda thought "gee, that doesn't look like enough grease." I was right - mine already needs more.
