Yeah I gotta say the rims are just plain horrible, the ruin the whole "cleanness" of the car, with new rims it'd be nice though. The fenders look pretty cool, although I agree that they mess up the lines, but that can be fixed with just some more body work. Oh, and I wouldn't go so far as to say that evos are "cookie cutter" cars, they are tried and proven rally cars. I agree that spending 35k$ on a car can seem a little much, but if I had that money, I'd buy the evo. The integra is nice, but its a FWD and not only will dropping a new motor instantly destroy the warranty, hell some places won't touch the car, but it's also illegal.

i think the biggest bling (rice) factor on your car is rims. looks like "future car meets get-o" rims
hopefully you'll fine tune your body work and such to make it unique in a better way.

I know I read in this forum someone who used their car to autocross and then Mitsu voided their warranty for THAT! with not even motor mods! Anyway thats a whole different thread.
And alot of mods done nowadays are illegal too! even on our regular Lancers...but it doesnt stop us!!
Thanks for the words on the fenders by the way!
Its covered under warranty, as long as you don't race it, which really, people like to whine and moan about it, but if you were a car manufacturer, would you want to 1. have the image of supporting a dangerous, and in many cases, illegal action, and 2. deal with all the problems (mechanically) associated with putting kids (and yes some are still kids) in a 270 HP AWD car who don't know what they're doing? Honda is exactly the same way, if I bought a brand new NSX, and the next day showed up, told em I raced a viper by dumping the clutch at 7000 RPM and now my clutch is dead, are they going to cover it? Hell no, they're tell me very politely to **** off. Putting on headers, which may not be illegal depending on where you are, is far different than dropping a larger, and heavier engine into a car that is not meant to carry it.
Don't forget insurance too, most places won't insure cars which have undergone engine swaps, sure you can lie, but you get into an accident, not only will they not cover anything, but in all likeliness, they will simply drop your coverage .

But when you have wheels like those you expect it and welcome it!

"I raced a viper by dumping the clutch at 7000 RPM and now my clutch is dead". Come on! If they are dumb enough to say and do that then they deserve to be shot!As far as the warranty if you dont alter the car in ANY way you are fine. But for most enthusiats its really hard to do that. But you arent allowed to do anything to the car even if it is beneficial to the car or its operations. They use it as an excuse to not cover anything! Just as an example, if you like to change your own oil and do your own maintenance, and dont have all your receipts for ALL of them, (or install exhaust parts manifolds, headers etc) they can and WILL refuse to warranty, say.....your power steering pump or power door locks or heating controls....whatever.... you pick an entirely unrelated repair. Thats all I am saying. I like the car as far as the performance and capability but dont like how they sidestep legitimate repairs for some unrelated mods!
But if I only spend $10000 it doesnt matter if the insurance doesnt want to cover it or whatever I fix it again and I still just pass HALF what it would cost for the EVO. Insurance wont likely drop you, when they can still collect your monthly payments and then when it comes time to cover you say "so sorry" Plus ive never checked the insurance on the EVO but I would venture to guess that its RIDICULOUS!!...correct me EVO guys if Im wrong.
Well it depends, my dealership is perfectly fine with what I've done, various suspensions, engine, shifter mods, its simply a matter of knowing your legal rights, and discussing modding with your dealership. Most dealerships don't have the problem with the mod itself, its what people do when they get the mod. If all you do it put an exhaust on, they're not going to car but if you put the exhaust on in order to track the car, then they draw the line. By law, they cannot void the warranty unless they can prove that the mod in question did the damage, all you'd have to do if they pulled that bull is say "under such and such a bill, you cannot deny me warranty. If you want we can get the lawyers involved though". Obviously this will show them you are not an idiot and unless its a serious issue, they will buckle and do the repairs. Insurance is not only about paying for your car, its also about the other persons car. If you get in an accident, and its your fault, you better have insurance, otherwise you will get raped, they will sue you for all you have, and then take you shoes too. Insurance will drop you because its too much of a risk, if you have a car that is illegal, and get in an accident, it will draw the insurance company's work ethic into question. Evo insurance is only ridiculous if you have a bad record, or are young, both of which are indications of potential problems. I would much rather spend 30K$, get the evo, have my warranty, have insurance, and have a 270 HP AWD car. When the warranty runs out, I'd start going nuts, its not hard to live with a 0-60 of 4.59 seconds.
