Post "Check Engine" Light problems

I was cautioned by my salesperson when I picked up my lancer (after the horror of fighting for a month and a half with the distributor) to may ABSOLUTELY certain the car is off when refilling the gas tank and also that the cap is on COMPLETELY tight because, "the fuel system is very sensitive. If any air gets inside the fuel system the computer will think there's a fire and the 'Check Engine' light will go on until you bring it in for service. The service guys have to enter some code to turn it off."

I know it's not the nicest solution but if your problem isn't fixed it's a very realistic possibility of why you've been having that problem.

Hope it helps!

RMR's reply

So I wrot to RMR asking about possible future releases...I got both good news and no news.

"...RMR will be making lots of products for the Lancer and the Evo 7. We are not planning on dropping the Lancer when the Evo comes out. I do not have any future products that I’m allowed to discuss coming out. We have bounced around the idea of a header, rear disc brake conversion, and sway bars. "

"... Also warranty is not an issue when you go through the dealers. So that’s a plus. Let me know if you have any further questions."

So...that's fairly encouraging I guess...at least not DIScouraging. I'm still hoping. Hell, I'd much rather go with Injen as far as performance is concerned but I can't help but think how badly I'd kick myself if I somehow ruined parts that weren't under warranty on a brand new car. Call me cautious.

Will Arospeed be producing any parts for the domestic Lancer?

Not much of an answer but a good answer none the less.

Spreadsheet

Ok...I just updated the newest version of the spreadsheet, and once again, if anyone wants one, PM, email or AOL me if you want one and I'll be more than happy to fire one your way. Oh yeah, and could a couple of people follow up on body kit info? Body kits aren't terribly high on my list of priorities since I want my car to BE faster before it LOOKS faster . So if a few of you guys wanna do that, that'd be great since hopefully I'd be able to add in some brands and costs.

Erebuni makes some great bodykits, unfortunately none for the Lancer right now. But they do have the the EVO 7 wing for the Lancer. The website is www.erebunicorp.com. Plus there seems to be a ton of other websites that sell the the factory spoiler, painted even, such as www.spoilerdepot.com for about half the cost of the dealership. Sorry, that's all I got for now...

Well don't expect any miracles. Give it time. We'll get there. Just keep creating demand.
