Projectors
well, im pretty much doing the same thing but with my cedia lights, should be done this weekend(hopefully) or i am assed out, what are you gonna be using as a shroud? damn you headlights have a crazy glare, cedia lights do not have a glare like that, i dont think that HID's in stock chrome housings are safe....yikes
not to hijack your thread
thats what this is gonna be about, ill wil be doing a step by step for retrofitting with my cedia's, process will prolly take awhile but posting on here would make me want to finish the project faster, ill will update as it goes, feel free to ask quesitons if need be, i may end up buying an extra pair of cedia headlights, to get this done, so ill start tonight by posting things needed and things i am going to use :wtg:
things bought so far:
H1 projectors

screws and nuts

metal ducting

black silicone sealer
things i already had
HID kit
cedia lights
will post pics as they come :wtg:
some pics to start ya'll off with...
pics of projector and lightbeam

pics of regular HID kit and light beam

your projectors look pretty good, also saw your update thread and the final product is looking pretty good, just kinda wish the projetors were a bit bigger haha, mine are the size of the turn signal housing haha. I like the idea of using the Cedia housings they are hot. just be sure to keep the hids on even when the hi beams are on, because you will kill them and get major color shift if you don't. in any case, I am going to disect my lights this weekend when I have time. also going to be blowing alot of **** up so yeah, ill update asap.

Update!!!
ok, decided to just do the retro myself. I finally found a nice piece of ABS that would work well for a shroud and when a small piece of 3" PVC is inserted it covers all the gaps left by the ABS. granted it required quite a bit of sanding and dremeling to get the projector to fit properly, but it does now fit and with a little more work, the reflector bowl will fit too. I will also be cutting out the stock reflector tomorrow so that this will fit and I will actually be able to aim my lights using the stock adjustments. I also decided after looking at many other cars with projectors that I would get rid of the stock chrome look and adapt a color match to the car (silver) which is already looking 10 times better than stock and does not look as bad as the blacked out stuff does on my color car. ill post some more pics tomorrow afternoon. Should be interesting to see the final product. for you guys who need an idea how big tis pipe is, it is exactly the same size as the stock turn signal housing (which I am convertiong to driving lights) so it should look really nice being so symetrical.
***Note: The picture of the projector was before I did some custome dremeling to the shroud so you might notice that the projecotr itself seems a bit recessed, that is because it is about 2 in back haha. but that gives a general idea of what my final product will look like.

pretty damn gorgeous. i can't believe this many people are doing this projector project. everyone is doing it different ways it's exciting. there's no competition, we've all got the same goal (to make projectors) and we will be some of the most famous and well known ppl on the SHOW SHINE forum =P
DAMN the projector IS HUGE!!!! looks good tho,
my only thing is that the pvc you are using might be to thin...may have a cahnce of melting , i used the thickest PVC i could find....looks great so far
while your lights are already open might aswell black out the side of them as well

yeah, this projector is 3" haha. nice and big and will be seen from far away. the ABS is still more than a 1/4 of an in thick. plus it will be lined with aluminum as a reflector shield. from what i've read, the ABS and PVC may get a little bendy under high temps but thats not until 200+ degrees or soo and at that point the light will be likely to fall apart on its own haha. I will also be using custom vents like the stock hosuings do so that I can get a bit of air flow but keep the moisture out. cannot wait to get these done, been seeing you guys making some good progress and now its making me want to finish sooner.

looks good guys... i did a HID retro on my 04 ralliart a couple of months ago and it turn out very good. check out the ralliart forum for pix. good luck and take your time. it took me a weekend to do it. but, the planning part and reading about HIDs and all its glories took forever....almost half a year. my advice to you is to measure twice before you cut. lols. anyway, good luck!

that looks super nice man! congrats. I also want to thank you for doing HID's the right way and for teaching people how to do HID's the right way (ie retrofit). So many people are endangering others on the road with HID's in stock housings emitting super solaresque glare. And now a major vendor on these boards will start carrying HID's, I fear the worse.
I havnt seen a close up of cedias yet, didnt know they werent chrome housings but more of that mat grey color. the headlight is nice. Im almost surprised somebody like RRM hasnt pushed making projectors(unless they have). If they ever do, 100's will sell in first day id bet. id buy em.

oh yeah, if anyone did make projectors and bundled them with an HID kit, they would fly off shelves. but no one has, so people take short cuts and just get HID's with stock reflector housings (bad!
)
only way I know of to get projectors is to retrofit your own, or buy them from japan or signapore for a couple hundred bucks (500 maybe?).
What we need is an evodave-like figure for the lancers that does headlight mods and can retrofit us some nice projectors.
