wings only help after you go over 80 miles per hour...so my question is why would you be doing over 80 mph on a freeway or highway.

i know to many people that have died due to illegal street racing...what a waste of a life.

be safe fellow mitsubishi drivers, what's the use of a turboed, lowered, 17 in rim lancer, if it's crushed and broken in half? Keep it on the tracks my friends.

you are correct about one thing (Additional weight+drag=slower), but drag does not occur until higher speeds, that is why the evo can accelerate fast as hell, but not trap quite as high as most other cars in its class. the spoiler causes increased downforce, which will cause greater traction to the rear wheels, and although the lancer is FWD, you need traction to all tires, especially at higher speeds, because it will hug the road tighter with it.

no one said i was street racing....lol...even at 70mph I can feel the difference, so your statement is wrong, and dont tell me you have never gone 80 on a freeway puhlease...time for a reality check

I just bought a wing this week and slapped it on a couple days ago. I notice the difference at 40mph. Everything the car doesn't bounce around anymore on the freeway either, i feel much much more in control. I don't care if anybody thinks its dumb to have an evo wing on a lancer because it makes the car look 10x better and drive much nicer.

^yeah i use to due around 70-80, back when i was 16 years old, when I was all excited and such over my new license. When you get older, you'll learn there is really no need to be doing over 70-100 mph on a freeway full of innocent bystanders. Heck the truth is, i set my cruise control to 65 exactly everywhere I go. Don't think I'm the one that needs a reality check btw.

Let's stay on-topic, kids. I don't care if you go 80 or 65 on the freeway. Not the point of the thread.

(And so we know were I stand, my last speeding ticket was 80 in a 60. )

im 22, and have never(yes never) all honesty, nver have gotten a speeding ticket. and i have been driving since i was 16...so i dont think i need a lesson on highway safety...mmmmkay? dude you live in frisco, where traffic doesnt move half of the time..... you coudnt go past 65 if you wanted to anyways, unless you got on the 80 and was alittle out of frisco

if you always drive high speed ...spoiler helps the stabilitly, but I will still going wingless since most of the time I drive local so spoiler is useless at that point~~

Thumbs up

Well, you guys just might have me convinced there! My car really feels a bit too unstable on the back at around 160Km/h (I guess that's about 100Mph)... and I was looking at getting a lower tie bar for the back, but maybe a good investment would be a high wing to complement it. I'm still not sure about the look though... I like it on other guy's cars, but I'm still not convinced I'd like it on mine.

Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for the info... I should come to the US Lancer forum more often too.

Peace!

Jef

^^^I have read that the lower tie bar makes the car seem real loose at higher speeds. I'm not sure who told me, but i remember someone in the suspension forum had told me. I'm not sure though.

yeah it should be, but one of those suspension/AutoX gurus had told me that it made theirs loose and didnt seem anywhere near as stable. pm alchemist, as far as i know, he is the most knowledgeable about us lancer suspension.
