high wing pointless on a lancer?

to the nay-sayers, and ahter out there that say a wing wont make a difference on a FWD 120hp lancer, WRONGO!

i had my high wing for over a year, love it to death, and tho i have decided to take a different path with my car now, i have to write this review, which i have been meaning to do for awhile now.

i took off my wing about a month ago to see how i would like the look fo the car, well i liked it too much, the wing is sexy on a lancer, but it was just time for me to go a different way.

i used to be able to take my car to 80+ on the freeway on a daily basis and the car would be fine, didnt feel loose at all

after i took the wing off, i didnt notice it immediately cus most of my driving is on the streets, but not i DO feel that the car is a little looser at 70+, and the funny thing is that my GF noticed it too. its not to the point where the car is undrivable at 70+, just that it felt a lot better with the wing on.

just thought i would post it....

Love my Evo wing with the Ken kit; looks great, does provide stability, and gets the looks...

Yup, when I got my evo8 wing put on (traded free at dealership), I noticed a huge difference in stability. *especially on the highway and off ramps.

I like how people act like a spoiler will lift the front tires off the ground on a fwd car.. if this was true, the car wouldn't go anywhere, on a RWD if it was true, it wouldn't be able to steer. It would take thousands of pounds of downforce to do so, and in the process, crush your trunk to the ground. hah.

same here. When I first got my cf trunk I had no wing for a few weeks till I got my evo 8 wing. I noticed a slight difference as well. I've never been a big fan of wingless cars. When you think about it, the whole "tuner" scene came about when average people wanted to make their cars look and perform better, like race cars. And since most race cars have wings, it only makes sense to have one! Everyone has their own opinion, but that's my logic behind why I will always have a wing

Funny how we've been saying this for years. But I'm sure there will still be at least one Evo owner who posts in this thread saying we're stupid and gay and just wish we had Evos...

Without a doubt the wing is functional, more so the faster you go! If you like to drive fast, keep the wing!

Depends on how you define significant. That's a huge wing and creates a large amount of drag when you accelerate. You're engine has to try and pull that additional downforce and drag through the air. It's one reason the RS EVO is faster than the winged EVO. Additional weight+drag= slower. Two or three tenths woudn't surprise me at all.

the only reason he would say that it is slower is because you have s SLIGHT more resistants...not even enough to notice though...

2 or 3 tenths in straight line, but what about twisties? Woudln't it inprove the Twisties time since you don't decelerate as much?
