Larger diameter pipe will reduce back pressure.
Generally with naturally aspirated engines reducing back pressure lets the engine rev more freely and pull stronger at the top end. There is a noticeable loss of performance at the bottom end that goes with this.
Now you will notice a difference, but what will be noticed even more is the accompanying noise.
