36,000 and have no problems other than the ones I've created by modifying my car, mostly just tweaking problems though, My 03 OZ only has 36,000 because I bought it after the 04's came out so it sat for a year but I watched them open the big glass doors to drive it off the showroom floor with 11 miles on it and I got it for under $13,000 brand new, $2700 for trade in, $4,000 off sticker and 7 year financing was thier deal, and it runs me $196 a month

haha. I just hit 21k on my 03 oz. From what I see I drive quite a bit. I drive a lot more now then I did when I lived in VA because its so far to everything. No problems yet but not that many miles. haha

they are quite reliable if you treat it well. every once in a while you will hear about some problem with them, but every car comes with some troubles along the way.

i've got 101k on my 02 OZ and it runs just fine. i bought it with 98k and it was in great condition then. the previous owner drove from NH to MA every day for work and really racked up the miles, he traded in my lancer on a new lancer at the mitsu dealership i went to.

137k miles and still going pretty good. they're pretty damn reliable. i'll be needing a new clutch soon. still on the stock one. changed all the belts once along with the water pump. had the car since dec '01. a lot of 400 mile 1-day trips. a few 1200 mile Vegas trips. this lil beater has taken me everywhere.

80k'ish miles. No problems except some idling issues when I was screwing around with piggyback ecu's. Other than that fill it up with gas, oil every 3k miles and you're set.

i hate to say it, but 7 year financing is not a good deal for a lancer.

It's not a good deal for anything but the bank. At 5-6 years you are looking at a car that is worthless and most likely in need of some semi-major repair and you still owe money on it. I would refinance as soon as your financial situation allows for it and get it to 4 years at least.

Can you elaberate on that?

Some will say thats too long, but I am in year three, I have just over 36,000miles on it, At that rate I will have a little over 84,000miles on it after 7yrs, which isn't much these days, I have a garage that I keep it in and I take very good care of my vehicles, so it will look nice inside and out. I've actualy made money on every car I've ever owned so I am not concerned with the deal and I plan on keeping it until it is dead, or close to it. This is my 6th car so I have some experience to draw upon concerning the deal I got. Bottom line Is I didnt pay the $18,000 that alot of other people paid (new) and that the sticker said and the interest was only 1.9%.

Hey I know you that you know your **** because I've read alot of your posts so you have my respect and I'm not being a smart a$$ but you just described your 02 OZ as just about worthless and your going to have some major repair soon. I'm just saying that this is the opposite of what everyone is saying on this thread. All cars are a bad investment unless you keep the absolute best care of them, and yeah the bank is making money, the dealership is making money, and you are spending money to own a car. They are not houses but I'm willing to bet that after 7 years and at just over 84,000 miles MY car will not be absolutely worthless. I'm pretty sure I could sell it to someone for a couple, few grand.

the mileage doesn't much matter. the lancer is a car that loses its value very quickly, more so than many cars in its class. so, unless you pay that 7 year loan off several years before it ends, you will become upside down in the loan. if you keep it and luckily nothing happens to it, you will be fine, but if somehow you wreck it, or it gets totaled you will be screwed - the insurance company will only pay out the value of the car, not what you have left to pay on the loan.

That is of course unless you have gap coverage. If I crash and it is considered totalled, I don't have to pay off the rest of the loan. So if I win an Evo any time soon my Lancer will meet a light pole Not really. I'd keep my Lancer, keep the Evo parked in a garage.
