How reliable are the lancers?

I am curious to how reliable the lancer is. Everyone seems to say they break down allot or have tons of problems is this true? This is my first import my camaro is pushing 245,000 on the original engine. That's why I got a third car (I also have a 68 firebird.) I would like to get that out of this car is that possible?

I take very good care of my cars I do tune ups every 25,000 miles and oil changes every 3000 miles.

105,xxx in 4 years 4 1/2 months and i beat the **** out of the car...not a single problem...not one and I havent really done any of the suggested maintenance like changing the belts/fluids..have an auto and it pulls and shifts jst like when i got it. I'm on my third set of brake pads, original drum pads, oil change every 3-4k miles, air filter changed one time(like 60,xxx miles ago)...so yea i think its pretty reliable...

The only problem I have had was my stock rotors warped around 30,000 miles.

thunderoz, if you haven't had your timing belt done yet, DO IT. you're playing a very expensive game of roulette if you don't. That thing snaps, instead of a couple hundred for the work, you'll be buying a new engine.

Dang^. The only problem I have had was the power steering. But thats because the guy who had the car before me put in the wrong power steering fluid and I had to replace everything. I am at 73,000 or something like that and its still kickin.

so heres a question.
what mods would comprimise the reliability of the lancer? eg. turbo.
are there any mods i should avoid if i want to keep my car a long time?
or how about mods that would increase reliability?
