So my dad is an idiot, and he jacked up my 03 oz rally off the tranny (the flat part under the car) (its an automatic) now everytime i drive it from a dead stop to pretty much 2nd gear it does like this grinding rumbling thing. What do you think happened to the tranny and how much do you think it will end up costing??

 

oh man.. there is a spot in the front right near the tow hook to jack up the car too.

I'm guessing the housing of the transmission might have bent and something is grinding against it? But, I don't know if you could bend the housing on that, or if it would just crack. How about jacking up the car in the right place, putting some jack stands under it for safety, then looking to see if you can see damage. Take some pix and post them.

 

Not the mention any damage that might have happened to the motor mounts.

 

So, you drive an OZ but your avatar is of an Evo w/ the comment "drives:" Evo VIII? What's up with that? Any how, you can pickup auto trannys for our car for <$300 on Ebay and maybe cheaper than that in your local salvage yard.

You own both the OZ and an Evo VIII? Ah, do you drive both or is the Evo track only or something?

 

is the pan dented in? if so you are probably grinding the layshaft against the pan when the car shifts to second gear. on the 5spd's (if the pan were removed; although smaller and no trans filter) you can stick your fingers up into the layshaft.....otherwise; i'm lost on ideas.

 

Yes i own both and the evo is now my daily driver for me, and my dad daily drives the oz rally since he blew the tranny on his new f150, so while thats getting fixed hes driving my oz rally. and the flat part on the underside of the car has some scratch marks i dont know if its dented in necessarily but its definetly got marks on it.

yea hes a jackass and messes up auto trannies, hes not very nice with them, he aint ever touching my evo
