COP/MSD for 4G18?

Hi,

I'm thinking of improving on the sparks being generated in the engine.

Does anyone know what type of ignition are we running? I have two ignition coils that are connected to cylinder 2 and 4, ignition coil on cylinder 2 links to 3 and 4 links to 1.

what do u guys think of MSD and the COP on ebay? Anyone with such mods on NA care to share your experience? Lets say im taking the MSD route, what other items do I need other than the MSD DIS-2 ?

Thanks and regards

If it has 2 coils, its a 2 channel system. I have compared the stock coils to evo coils, and the only discernable difference was the boots..

Which leads me to believe that the HKS-DLI2 might be a plug and play option for you to try.. Otherwise you could look at some of the systems done for the evolution and go from there.

Hi, yeah it has only 2 coils, for cylinder 2 and 4 respectively. 2 connects to 3 via plug wire and the same for 4 and 1.

Thanks for the input on HKS, their products are overly priced IMO that is why i'm looking at MSD and the COP in ebay, furthermore I had something similar to the HKS-DLI2 that boosts the voltage to 16v. I'm looking for a more value for money ignition mod.

It's for Mitsubishi Lancer with engine code 4.g.1.8. it's not a domestic model found in the states.

Moved to Lancer general, since their ignition system is likely more similar to yours.

MSD doesn't make ANY products for the mitsubishi lancer minus spark plug wires. Something about our coil packs would malfunction if any aftermarket ignition products were used so says the lead tech at MSD. I have already looked into this.

Mitsu's coil pack is a "proprietary system". Basically, MSD will have to PAY a portion of money to Mitsu each time one is being made.

IMO, too much work w/o the HP gains. Of course, you may believe Super Street making crazy dyno #'s.

*sigh*

*sigh*
what a disappointment,

Anyone with such experiences can enlighten on this? like alternatives? seperate setup for the ignition by using the signals sent? They've done it for the evos, COP's on ebay, but unfortunately I will not be able to use the grounding plate due to the layout of my engine bay...

Any imputs?
