I was offered 17.5k for my 2009 lancer gts with nav and sun/sound. I paid 21.5k for it 4 months ago.

Sucks! Cause I was hoping I could trade it in and then buy the 09's that have the new Touring Package. No way I'm taking a 4 grand hit on the car just to get the extra package.

 

i was offered 15k for a 2008 gts with nav/cvt with 3500 miles. sounds about right since they have the 2009 models out already.

 

i was also offered 15k, but i had about 6500 miles on mine at the time, and it was at a mazda dealership...i was thinking about a mazda 3

 

Wow. We will get nothing for this car in a year. Rediculous. You guys think the best thing to do is wait until it's completely paid off? Or Private sale if that.

 

i would say private sale it or just hang on to pay it off some. Either way your gonna get screwed. I took a hit of about 4 grand for trading in for my evo, but it was worth it for me. I didn't want to wait and have them offer me lower for the trade as 2009 is getting closer.

 

Why the heck is everyone trying to trade in their new car? I don't get it...where you expecting too much out of the Lancer because the Evos share the name? Somebody clue me in!

 

A lot of us got lost in the looks and the fact that it was new haha. I went to the dealer to get a WRX and came out with a Lancer :-/ Still want to stay with Mitsu, but I want more power. I'm 19 about to be 20 and don't have money for an Evo.

 

I just want the damn Touring Package that they just released mid model year. I waited for the 09 cause i knew it would have a bigger engine. Now I'm thinking I should have waited another 4 months for the Touring Package to be available so I could have got HID Projectors and Traction Control

 

mitsu will not offer you more than what they can buy a brand new car for. Invoice for a 2009 GTS is 16-18K depending on options..... so don't count on getting more for trade in that a NEW one. If you are looking at another car altogether than your chances are better at getting a higher trade. I got 18K for my 2008 GTS CVT trade in at a mazda dealer, and I had 8000 miles and no options.

 

More power? What was your first car might I ask? You say you went in looking at a WRX and came out with a Lancer huh? You did test drive the turboed car first or even at all right? If you have the 09 that engine is rated at 170ish and from the looks of it the 4B11 responds better to N/A mods than a 4G94. If cards are played right N/A just may be possible to see that at the wheel. But see the thing is people want to slap anything that says RRM on it and act like they are ballin'. (I am not dissing them in any way but the truth of the matter is you can't take their list and say you're good to go) You have to pick and choose your parts and if it just so happends their parts work well with what you are trying to do then buy it!

I'm looking at it like this. To me and probly a lot more forum members see the Lancer as better looking than a WRX. So what if you don't have AWD?! Are you gonna use it? Do you Auto X? How many times do you take it to the strip? 0?


The new 08's have tons of potential! They pratically just came out and there is at least one dedicated support group that you know is gonna last. Look at how long they lasted with the older gen Lancers. Take your 08+ and mod the **** out of them and lets see any other car on the road look that nasty!

It's only been a year and look what RRM did with that grey one (The one at MOD). Don't get me wrong, I love my boosted O.Z. but I'd slap your momma twice for that car! And that thing is only considered lightly modded!

Name me 5 other cars in the Lancers price range that look that sick with only that little amount of money put in to it!

Take your perfectly fine car and love it and drop the issue. Do you really need hids/projectors/whatever the hell/LSD/Whatever else for $2500+? NO! Put that money towards something else for the car if you must spend it. Not only would you be paying extra for the car; you'll be starting your payments over. Have you guys seen how intrest eats up your car payments?! Your only putting around 1/4 of what you pay towards the actual car for at least the first 2 years!

You guys should get creative and do what some other member here did and make demon eyes for the car. Those were nasty, looked way better than what factory can give, and gets more props for doing his own thing instead of taking the lame/silly way out by "trading up" while loosing tons of money out of your pockets.

I hate that I had to rant but I think some people are missing what owning/modding there car is about. It's not about "My car is better than yours" its about taking that car your given/wanted/ can afford/(you get the idea) its about taking the car I love, working with it, and making it 5X as nasty as yours. So what if you just "traded up" your last years BMW too get heated seats?! For the money you just spent, I took my last years BMW and added nice wheels, better rubber, and made it faster than your new one with heated leather seats!

Oh, and if your not here to mod your car and you just want your standard econobox thats does its job and only that, this does not apply to you!

all very true but if i were to get a different car, id go with something like an older integra or prelude and mod the hell out of it with the money id get from selling the lancer. i am like the other guy, i want more power. then i agree with you, i dont need HID projectors, traction control, AWD, etc. i just want more power. I was at a car show a couple weeks ago and there was the ****tiest looking civic hatch i have ever seen, but it was built and had 515 hp. thats power! i mean im not expecting to get that much power, just at least 200+ hp. with the sale of my car, and the purchase of an older car, i could put the left over money (not to mention the money saved with insurance ) to a huge turbo, great suspension, pistons, rods, cams, etc. and have all the power i want for less money and not have to worry about a warranty!

the only reason i didnt go this route is because my grandma would not let me get a used car because of all the problems i had with my first car, a 1993 geo prizm. it had some serious problem like every month, and by the 6th month of owning it, i had put in twice what I paid for it, which was 1k!

Ok well I didn't actually test drive the WRX, only the Lancer. I have a 08. Not only that but mine is PZEV. So I have like 143 hp? At the time of purchase, it sounded like a good car. It was new. Good looking. But I was also talked into getting it by my family(who was all there by the way) being surprised how much they were going to lend me for a GTS. Anyways. Basically what I REALLY wanted was a car that was already at a good amount of hp, and if I modded, wouldn't be a disappointment. I personally don't think the WRX looks bad, I love it(blue with gold wheels, fasho). Although I do love my Lancer. I want something else. The RA. I think it's time to retaliate. BTW my first car was a 92 Toyota Paseo that I had for 9 months(Had to get rid of that QUICK! Could ride around in that haha)
