why the lancer????????
Obviously the evo is a lancer, were talking semantics now. And i was using the example of kids coming up to a lancer not a Car and Driver rep. I wasn't saying anything disrespectful towards lancer drivers. Someone made a good point that to take a non turbo'd bottomline car and make it fast is more of an achievement that to take a already fast car and make it faster.
those should be the ones complaining.
i didnt mean your comment its just from the way some evo owners talk on those forums like the 2 cars have nothing to do with eachother and that the lancer comes stock "trying to be like an evo" if anything i get more tricked trying to tell the difference between a WRX and an sti than i do a lancer and an evo.. new gen or old..

Most people can't really tell the difference cause they don't really pay any attention.I mean, i use to be like whoaa a EVO, but now my girl goes hey did you see that EVO? And i'll be like yeah i saw it. I always love the evolution, but i just hate it when people over rate it. than it just becomes old. And yeah i love taking something that wasn't fast and making it some what moderate. I know my 4g94T will never be as fast as other cars that put turbos on and can boost high stock than mine, but oh well
to be honest, i love my lancer, and like many of us, i would love an evo too. if i had the money when i got my lancer, i would have probably gotten an evo. but then i releazied that if i have gotten an evo...well then....i would have gotten in more trouble than i would have. heck, my lancer is good enough for right now. as long as i can beat a same year honda with my stock lancer, then im happy.
at the end of the day its what your happy with, most people who own evo's, like myself, have an addiction to anything fast, and the evo gives you an unbelievable machine for what is a reasonable amount of cash compared to the likes of ferrari or porsche. on the other hand I bet a lot of you guys who own lancers but NOT the evo, like to hang out with other lancer owners and enjoy the social side to it all aswell, also not everyone can afford a $40,000 car!
everyone has there own reasons why they choose the car they have....

my gf's friend from work who is infact a car enthusiast himself
thought my car was an evo since he first met me
and ive had various people ask me if my car was en evo
obviously he doesnt know that much about cars
and ive actually had a few friends that ive known for years think my car was an evo which i dont understand since my car looks nothing like an evo

i usually laugh and tell people its a regular lancer and there always like "no wayy" and im like uhh yeahhh it looks nothing like an evo lol
I think most get confused because of a certain movie that I will not name where they slapped some Lancer shaped tails on the booty! I never said I didn't want an EVO either, but I love having to pay less for gas at this point in time. I still look at them like "damn it!!" every time I see one that someone has traded in at a dealership where I live. Especially the black one I keep seeing on the way to work everyday with the AMS intercooler staring back at me! lol
It's also funny how a person eating an apple might also say they don't care for or want an orange. This whole debate is a moot point as far as i'm concerned...
Lol I don't really think that's an accurate comparison. The apple vs. orange debate comes down to personal taste, the lancer vs. evo debate comes down to affordability. Lets face it, most people who drive a lancer would love an evo. I know when I had my lancer I would gladly have gotten rid of it if I could have afforded an evo (and if they were available in Canada). The same goes for my WRX, if I could have bought the STI, I would have but at 22 a 50000$ car is a bit much.
