why the lancer????????
like "alot" of people have said they would love an evo n i would too but at 18 a evo is way out of the question ha. ive had the same thing where i was parked infront of a walgreens an 2 people asked me if it was a evo X im like is there dual exhausts, the rear diffuser, wide frenders or a spoiler on this car? mind i wasnt mean about it i just said no i wish haha. **** i kno some evo owners dont like us lancer owners n if they wanna be like that, then what ever, aint gunna kill me. but if they were cool enough to talk to us lancer drivers then hell id b right there talkin to them. i think this whole thread really comes from a OP base
May be true but tell me this...
What if Lancer owners want a larger spoiler for whatever reason, what options can they go with? Show me 3 that look good without me having to add 4 more holes in my trunk and I'll eat my shoe.

To be honest, I did it to prove a point that it can be done. Whenever anyone ask me "Why?", I have a genuine smile on my face, make direct eye contact, and reply with a simple "Why Not?". I take pride in my Lancer and I'm sure that everyone here does. I like the challenge of taking what I have and making it better than what is usually percieved. I enjoy earning the respect from people since they know that I am serious about my Lancer and that I'm dedicated to finish what I started. Besides that, my Lancer is my first car and has a significant meaning for me.
certainly the designers of the action package do then... So by your logic, Evos with lancer spoilers must really want a lancer don't they? Mitsu did make the high spoiler an option for non-evos you know... What difference does it make anyway? If someone has a passion for their vehicle, they should be able to do what they want to it. It's not like they are damaging you by changing parts on the car.
i took my evo wing off on my old lancer. Some guy tried to race me with his Subaru STI, cause he thought my car was an evo. Oh..well...you guys can buy it from me if you want.
i went to this spot where a bunch of people meet up an i saw the guy who owns the evo from AMS there an i think he asked me to race, it was either him or someone just by the car haha. but besides the pt he saw my car an kept askin me to race bc i keep havin people, even people who know alot about cars, see the front of my car an ask me if its an evoX idk why. its a ES model hahah
Its funny though, because honestly probly about an hour before you made this topic I was thinking about making a topic about how much I love my Lancer.
But on topic...why mod a Lancer? Because its my car. I don't mean that as "It's my car and I'll do what I want with it" I mean it as my car is a representation of myself. I don't think I should have the exact same looking car grandma has over there. I don't feel like grandma why should I look like grandma?
Why didn't I just an Evo in the first place? How about because those are crazy expensive?! When I picked up my Lancer it was about $7000. Come this March it will be payed off. I am paying $185 a month for 4years. An Evo on the other hand Well, with my original down payment I probly would have been looking about $500 a month for a lot more than 4 years! No way a college student can afford an Evo. Hell some adults can't even afford an Evo! Should I even start on insurance? I guess if I wanted to eat ramen for the next 7 years I could scrape by but I'd rather not.
Besides, I'm sure there are those lucky few that the first car they mod is their Evo but I'd rather start on something more simple before I go poking around on an Evo. So far I think I've spent around an extra no more than 4K on my Lancer that bumps me up to a 11-12Kish car I'm still not near an Evo price tag.
Yeah, I love Evo's and when I finish college I'm for sure going to get one when I get my money right and every so often I go up to Mitsu to look at them for motivation to keep going but I like the path I'm taking. When I finish paying off my Lancer I'm going to keep it and also get an Evo. So instead of living poor in the fun years of my life but drive an Evo, I drive a nice car that does turn heads and still get compliments.
I think I chose the right path...

I spent so much money on my old lancer, but gained so little power. And i found out today i have a leak on my headers. RRM didn't put my old gasket back...argh.

Are you sure? cause when you install headers i would think you would need a new exhaust manifold gasket in order to not have a leak.
