Can't open trunk with key

So, I tried to open my trunk with the key, and it doesn't work. When I put the key in, it seems like I have the incorrect key. The cable release from the driver's side works fine. Has anyone else encountered this? I've had my Lancer for about 4 years now.

I've had the same problem with my 04 OZ (haha same color too!) Anyways I took it to the dealer recently and they "lubed" it for free. Works perfectly now. Might want to try swinging by your dealership and see if they will do the same.

Any problems with your moonroof? They also lubed that and fixed it... Just curious if you have had that problem too?

Thanks! I'll try stopping by the dealership.

The only issue I had with the moonroof is that it wouldn't vent until I opened the roof and closed it. Weirdest thing....a month ago.....and hadn't had a problem otherwise.

Mine would not open fully, it would only vent. When it dropped down to go into the roof it wouldn't drop far enough so it would just get stuck until I pushed the button forward??

It' fixed now but just frustrating because I was out of town with a car full of people when it decided to break haha...

When they started putting trunk release buttons in cars, people stopped using the key. Locks freeze up when never used. I had the same thing. WD40 your key and lock and keep trying it. Eventually it will work.

The trunk uses a different key i'm pretty sure. Mine also does this and i remember when i got it, it never worked. The key we have is probably a valet key or something.

---Edit---

lol nevermind i have no idea what im talking about...it probably does lock/freeze up.
