HID lights in our reflector headlights a good idea or no?

I heard that HID lights in reflectors is a terrible idea because it makes them unbearably bright for other drivers. But i heard that the shape of our reflectors does not make it that huge of a deal.

Is this true? Or is there some simple fix so that the lighting isnt too bright?

The 02-03 Lancer headlight housing is horrible for HIDs.

A proper HID conversion (projectors and all) is best. You can buy headlight assemblies with projectors now from DEPO.

Yea those will be better than in stock housing...the BEST thing to do is retrofit a true HID projector into your stock lights though

I dont know what a retrofit is.

I just want HID lights on my car, but preferably not some extremely expensive conversion kit.

And i purchased Sylvania Cool Blue lights, and honestly, they look EXACTLY like regular halogen lights...

it should'nt be that bad for your stock housings. Look at the IS300, that car comes stock with HID's and their headlight housing is not even projector, they are reflectors that look similar to 02-03 lancers!

My daily driver is a 2003 Lancer OZ Rally and one of the first things I did was go out and buy a pair of Silverstars. They aren't really comparable to HIDs but they definitely improved night time driving for me.

I recently saw a new product from Sylvania (the company that makes Silverstars for those unaware) which claimed up to 50% brighter and more visibility and such... however at the usual 50-somthing dollars for a pair of 9007s I couldn't afford to get them (at least not at the time). About a month later a guy came into the shop i work at and wanted us to install a pair of them he had bought (among other services)... when I saw them after we replaced his stock bulbs I would have said they were HIDs--they are very bright.

Anyway sorry for the long story thats kinda just how I tell things. but in conclusion i would say if you want a bright, high quality bulb i would recommend the Silverstars. From what i hear about the "Cool Blue" brand of bulbs that Sylvania makes, it sounds like they are just for looks.

Anyway that's my two cents. Hope it helps in some way.

Edit:
Sorry forgot an important detail, the new Silverstars come in a package with an orange backing to it. Where-as the original Silverstars I had purchased came in a silver backed packaging. That's the only way I can tell the difference between the two.
