I am wondering if it is normal to hear mild valve knocking noise on the 2009 lancer gts. I have had the car for 2 months and it has 2300 kms on it. It is not loud or alarming but its a brand new car and i dont like when its making un-neccesary noise. I live in ontario and it is cold at this time. It sounds more like ticking then knocking...

Am i over reacting and it is normal? Is it because it is being broken in still? Becuase of the cold?

Its normal. Mine has done that since I got it in May of 07

i will confirm it that's how the 2L and 2.4L lancer engines sound

i dunno, ive had a 09 lancer for almost 10 months now and i havent noticed any odd noises

i have 09 gts and i dont have any unusual noises like that

 

my gf's 2007 scion tc makes same noise at idle as my 09 lancer.
