Lancer SX 2011

Hey im 17 and currently live in Australia, i was wondering if what turbos would suit the standard lancer 2011, because i dont want to buy a **** *** universal kit or a evo turbo which wouldnt work i was wondering what the best thing to do is with the turbo, and i also wondering what a good exhaust system would be to increase the horsepower.

Cheers Justin

Both the Ralliart and Evo X Turbo setups work just fine in all the base model lancers. Use the search tool and you'll find multiple threads of lancer owners going with one of those setups. You'll need to collect the various parts that go into putting the whole kit together, but it will end up being cheaper than buying a ready made kit from a vendor.

As for the exhaust...any catback system will net you some gains and won't be too hard on the wallet. You can either buy one that comes as a full catback, or get an axelback and find a shop near your area that will custom fabricate you the rest of the piping for either a catback or a headerback exhaust system (headerback will get you more power but it will generally be noisier).

Hope that helps, and welcome.

I hate to say this but unfortunately thats aiming a bit too high. I'm not 100% familiar with the SX engine internals as it doesn't really pertain to me, but if they are similar or identical to that of the 2.4l GTS they won't be able to support that kind of power at all. Not to mention that you don't have the AWD and specifically the S-AWC that the X and RA have. Because the base model lancers are FWD and weren't meant to handle that sort of power, they have an extremely hard time keeping that power down at the wheels. The result is a lot of tire spin in lower gears (even when going with the X turbo). There are certain steps you could take to minimize this, but realistically you won't be able to effectively launch the car or do any WOT pulls in low gears without experiencing significant amounts of tire spin.

If you want to go the forced induction route, you are going to want to hunt down someone with a lightly used EVO X STOCK TURBO or RA Stock turbo, my suggestion as well as that of Carvs (I spoke to him quite a bit about this topic) is to go with the X turbo. As for the intercooler, piping, etc, you can go with a variety of different options so I'll let you decide which one you like best. I have a list of everything you'd need to boost your car that I can PM you if you'd like.

Long story short, a lot of the parts you are going to be looking for are going to be stock X parts, which are in abundance on here and other enthusiast forums because they often get replaced by aftermarket parts.
