It helps to reduce wheel hop. i had a problem when i shifted hard into 2nd gear my wheels would spin and shake the car very hard. i did it to my front motor mount and it made a huge difference. i havenn't gotten around to the rear mount yet. It is definitly worth the time and is pretty cheap.

NOTE: I know I'm digging up an old thread, but I didn't want to start a new one when there is already one the topic in which I'm about to touch on.

Last night I finished my DIY polyurathane motor mounts.
I ordered a "kit" off Ebay similar to the link I posted below.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/DIY-U...temZ8055264244
And then followed the instrutions from this web site: http://www.energysuspensionparts.com...%20Inserts.asp

I filled both the front and rear motor mounts for the Lancer with a little less than half the liquid polyurathane left to mess around with(could have filled another set).
Let it sit to harden for a day; then I re-mounted the mounts to the car. My engine movement has decrease significantly.
Before making the solid motor mounts I measured with a 12in. ruler how much the bottom of the engine moved from its original position. It moved more than 1.5in. forward and about and 1in back from it's sitting position. After the solids where put back in the motor didn't move than an 1cm in either direction.

Altogether, it cost me no more than $50 and 24-hr immobilization of my car. Damn good upgrade and a lot of fun too.

That is a steep price for motor mounts. Also, are EVO motor mounts interchangeable with Lancer motor mounts?

Its an old trick and from what I have read, it works. DSM guys have used this trick for years in order to improve traction off the line.

I don't even think the evo mounts work on a lancer, I vaguely remember someone else asking this question and it came out negative.
