Automatic?
Automatic?
Hey,
Some of my friends are hassling me that I got an automatic car, I think it's because one has a manual WRX and the other has bmw 325 is..
My Dad Has a manual Mini cooper, and it ain't the smoothest ride.. And my brother has a Acura RSX and that isn't that smooth either .. so I never really like the manual.. plus going up hills
Am I a lot slower going with the Auto rather than the Many?
nevertheless I love my

yeah... transmission is just preference... dont sweat it too much... i wish i had both... cuz when im traveling... and traffic.... manual can be a dick... but when ur at a red light... and a civic pulls next to u... a stick is nice to have
well u could get the best fr both worlds in a MITSUBISHI CHARIOT... they hav this thingy tht alllows drivers to switch to manual shifting if the need arises.. n u could switch back to auto if u prefer automatic transmission...but obviously u would lose out to mostly every civic tht pulls up to u on the lights.

Well, I will say that the auto in the Lancer is less likely to be less responsive than previous auto cars. As long as you drive it for at least 45 minutes, it's supposed to start responding in a more "aggressive" sense if that's your driving style. "Intelligent" transmission.
I think that the reason the automatic is looked down on is that driving a stick (if your good at it), is a skill that takes time and talent to develop. No offense, but, you could train a monkey to drive an auto. It's easy. And, that's it's biggest plus over manual. Driving an auto makes it easier to drive in traffic, and basically all every day driving situations.
I got the stick so that even a drive down to the store could be fun.

my friends and i were talkin an i think that the auto might actually out accelerate the stick. i have an auto and i dragged a stick (both of us lancers oz rally editions) i didn't embarris it but i did win, now me n him were talkin and we do realize that it could be his shifting but none the less we feel that the shifting could only get so good and at best tie the auto i would rather have a stick though
It could have been shifting, or a variety of other factors. If he was waiting until red line to shift, a general consensus is that shifting around 500 rpm below red line produces the best times. Secondly, everything has to do with launch. The times that I raced mine, I would either have great runs, or really bad ones depending on the launch (I'll say it before anyone else does "captain obvious to the rescue!") Good clutch control is key on this car (and most others), and due to a wicked slip point, that makes it even more so. Those kind of things don't need happen to the auto, so, it would be easier to get more consistant launches, times, and runs, but, with a stick, when it's on, it's on. And I'd imagine quite a bit faster than the auto when it is indeed on. But, who knows.
