i've had my lancer for 2 years now and the only complaints i have...well still have, is not having the time and most importantly, $$$ to spend on it!!! so far i've spent about $3 g's but i know that i'll never beat my friends mustang or wrx. but i still love my car cuz its dependable and its the first car that i bought...well, i'm still paying for it!!! all i can say is, you got to know what your cars' limits are. still unhappy, go for that rx7, that will definately give you the performance that i think is what your looking for,but do some research on them cause "i heard" they have alot of mechanical problems! well, good luck in whatever you decide on, and as for the rest off the lancer owners out there, i say, " ROCK ON!!!"

Someone call . New rule. If you ask for a Lancer, the salesperson will first b*tchsmack you, then spend 5 hours making sure you understand that it is NOT a sportscar, but rather an economy car. The salesperson shall read you the specs, including HP, TQ, and average 0-60 and 1/4 mile times. Then he/she will remind you that this is not a Civic, just in case you want a Civic but are accidentally buying a Lancer. After all this, you will only be able to buy a Lancer if you fill out a contract promising to love and cherish this Lancer, and not compare its speed to Camaros or Civics. Then they'll smack you again, just to make sure.

How's that? Does that work for you, "hardcoretuner" ???

I am pissed beyond belief. I could buy another car for $4100, or i could buy a turbo for my lancer. The other car would be a late 80's early 90's rx7 that ran 14's or my lancer will run high 15's. HMMMMM.......

Someone tell me why i have spent soo much freakin cash on this car. Honestly the internals are not like a honda, i can't boost it like crazy when its stock. THE FASTEST ONE AROUND RUNS A MEAR 13.8!!! Crazy fast??? NO not really a 13.8 is average for any performance car. Low 13's are where its at. Not to mention how much boe has spent or how much he has put into the car. Its rediculous for us to think that the lancer will ever be any more than a 4 door tank with maybe a shot of nitro. SOMEONE CONVINCE ME why i should get a turbo and not another car. HECK for 1000 bucks i can buy an 89 mr2 that is in GREAT condition. that car isn't supercharged but it runs a 15 like the lancer would. Plus i would have the other 3 grand to dump into that.

Lets say i turbo the lancer. to get any real boost i need some new pistons and rods, so i spend 1500 just on parts on those plus install so i spend 2grand on that so what now i can boost another 3 psi?? so now my car has added about (7+3=10psi) 100hp!!! I am supposed to be happy with this?? This is all a load of crap. honda civics have way cheaper parts, WAY CHEAPER. Someone get back to me on this when you can explain why its remotely economical to keep messing with a lancer.
my thoughts exactly, thats why im selling my turbo and getting a bike.

i say get the rx7 too.. either that or buy a cheaper car like a 1990 240sx and drop a sr20det engine in it. that'll be a pretty good project car. the only setback of getting the rx7 is that its a rotary.. an old rotary for that matter. but even if it is a rotary, i'd still tell you to get it

i bought...

i bought my lancer cause i needed a new car and something i could turn into a show car nothing spectacular but my first import project and i knew i wasn't going to get some gawd awful amount of HP out of it so i've kept performance mods to a min and going strictly for show ...but before i'd drop 4gz into my car for a turbo i'd buy me a used 240 or another type of car that has lots of engine aftermarket support so i'd be able to get the parts for a decent price ...

Hi all,

My first time posting here. I just got my new yellow 2004 ralliart and she is a beauty! I'd like to comment on hardcoretuner's complaint. It pretty much sums it all up when after he bought the car that he then complained about it. It really shows how people can be very ignorant.

How's that? Does that work for you, "hardcoretuner" ???

Man, you basically said what I was going to, Ive laughed at this guys posts before, not because of what he has to say, but because its combined with his user name "hardcoretuner."

The fact it took him this long to find out the Lancer is slow is laughable. No one needs to justify keeping/selling your vehicle, after all its your vehicle. I know my car is slow, so I concentrate on suspension and autocross the crap out of it.

I too have seen a number of these similar posts, and my question every time is "why did you buy a Lancer in the first place?" I know why I bought mine, I needed a cheap car to do major traveling and the 92 Wrangler I had prior wasnt going to cut it on 300+ mile trips. The fact that it autocrosses decent was just a plus.

Yeah, usually I just say "then why not buy a car you like?", but this deserved more. His laughable SN mixed with the idiocy of the post just begged for an attack. Now, can I get any sig-worthy lines out of that?

If your looking for "Speed", go and buy a load of coke and jump off the highest skyrise you can find in your area. On a seriouse note: you should be upset with your self. Its not fault, you just didnt do the homework. So do some homework before you purchase your next car ie. RX7.

I puchased my Lancer not because I couldnt afford and Evo, but because I wanted the satisfation of moding my car and doing some of the work my self. Do things in life to make you happy and not just to keep up with fads.
Peace....

Also, your point about 13.8 not being fast...
Who holds that opinion? Personally anything under 14 is damn fast to me, nevermind a car that came with 120 hp running under 14. My friend had a 91 Civic Si hatch, and he swapped a B16 into it with some other simple stuff. (Cams, exhaust, intake, etc) He ran a 14.8 at the track on crappy Kuhmos. I suppose you would consider that slow, but the guy driving the Mustang GT he smoked sure didnt think it was slow....
