u jus bought a wrong car. if u wanted to go cheap but fast yea 2g rx7 or sum S*. but if u want to go different n original, go with a lancer. you put money to go fast. doesnt take a day or a prayer, patience mang.

i bought my lancer because i was tired of driving my integra which was too low and i started to like four doors. my friends all have faster cars than me.. 3000GTs.. WRXs.. RSXs ... BMWs but there cars are pretty close to stock. i still get props from them even if their shyt its better b/c i've done more in 8 months from the day i got my car than what they ever did or ever will do to their car. also some of my friends drive hoopties or hand me downs. some times if feel like u and say theres no point of me dishing out money on a lancer but just be glad u have the money to even spend cash on it. when i see beaters on the road i kinda feel bad b/c its an adult driving it and then i think to myself that i should be thankful that i'm young and have a brand new car and that feeling makes me appericate the lancer and not wish i have some thing else b/c when i didnt have my integra i wanted a car so bad ... when i had my integra i wanted a new car so bad ... i have a new car but yet i still want a better car. and i know if i get a "better" car i'd still want some thing else.

if you purpose of getting a fast car is to wooow others then maybe its the wrong reason to get a car... if u gonna get a civic u better deck it out like no other. not just talking about rims, intake, exhaust and something thats "jdm" b/c then it would start to look like anyother civic in my area. with a honda u'll never be on top because some one out there has already done it i betcha.

u can either do
put a civic engine in ur lancer
trade it in for atleast a ralliart
u can get a used is300, i saw one with 21k miles for 20k which is pretty good... u wouldnt have to worry so much about speed since its a F'in lexus.

i'd rather drive a slow lancer than drive a old *** car (bmw, benz) .. or drive a fast car with dents b/c then it would look like i'm cheap and i cant afford repairs

yeh, if u get a new car who knows what problems coem with it... my cousin bought a used twin turbo 300zx for 8k and it has like 75k miles and and it makes some squeaking sound when ever its in park. now would that really look cool with ur peers when u roll up to a party and ur "fast car" that u traded ur lancer for sounds like its gonna break down. who ever decides to get a used car they better have money for repairs


OT but j/w.. does anyone know of a Supra engine can fit into an IS300? ... i think i heard it from some one. thats a pretty good swap i think.

 

I used to feel the same way, but truthfully its because I bought this because I didnt research this car. I honestly believed the engine in it was similar to the eagle talon engine / eclipse.... Now I enjoy plugging a few grand into it to get modest performance and wicked cornering.. I scare the f*** out of all my friends around tight corners still, the car handles like a mf'er

This car already had good handling and after 2 suspension mods...this b!tch is on rails.
Besides other than the Eclipse....no Mitsu car has ever had a 1/4 mile rep. If anything Mitsu has a Rally rep'...hence the handling.

 

definately got a lancer for the "unique" thing and have something to learn with before i jump into a higher maintenance/performance car. and no one bothers to race me, which is okay since i don't like the attention.

i've also surprised (though i couldn't quite fully keep up) a mildly experienced wrx driver and i have eibachs and blown struts. i can only imagine a full suspension setup(and get rid of some understeer).

Not that i want to get props for my car or anything like that. i want to have a car that I think looks nice and goes really fast. only thing is i want to make it look nice and i want to make it go fast. but another catch is i don't have lots of cash so it needs to be cheap. still another catch is i don't want to buy anything that could be considerd a classic.

 

honestly..if it's a gift from your folks..appreciate it man...i dun understand why you're complaining..its not like you can pull top speed normal driving anyways..lol..high school...you'll realize one day that speed isn't everything..for now, it's a new car...i can count all the friends i know that have a BRAND NEW CAR in high school AS A GIFT...you're lucky man..look nice?..haha..what's nice gonna give you?..girls?..pffft..good luck buddy. if u have 5k, u have a running rx7. an FC that is, the 2nd generation rx7. look into spending anywhere from 500 bucks to 1500 bucks on an rx7 with a blown engine. look into another 1500 bucks for a full engine rebuild (www.jandhracing.com). look into random crap u have to fix. 5k should be close to the minimum price that you'd need for a running rx7 with a freshly rebuilt engine.

jedi... your Lancer is not a mini Evo, the Evo is your car on steroids. I bought a "00" eclipse gt and sold it for what I owed so that I could get into my Evo.
As for the point of this thread; The Lancer is a very very together little sedan.... a sensible choice for quality transportation. It might be good to save money instead of modding if very high performance is your goal since less expensive used Evos will be avaliable in a couple of years.
