I am not mad just making an observation about the mentality and the kill section quotes that are not supposed to be allowed on EvoM. Boe, You are in So. Cal I believe so one of these weekend take the OZ to Carlsbad and lets see whats shes got. I remember 13.8 at one point as you being the fastest Lancer/non evo around. Is your car faster than that now. Don't say Cal Speedway on 5/29/04 cause I have my hands full with a Viper grudge match this weekend. Idiaz28 the room is not too hot for me. I just don't like Honda like mentality. If I take care of my friends at the 1320 Viper i am not going to insist or try and convince him that my car is better and that he wasted his money. An Evo cost 27000 gs right now and with 3-4 gs you can get low 12s. So 30,000 gs you beat an 80gs car at the 1320. That is great but in no way is my car a better all around car. That is the tone that I hear on this thread when you say you are faster than Evos on the highway. Hell Stock Srt-4s take out Evos on the Highway so Idiaz28 saying that srts and stis are no contest is a bad and inaccurate reply.

Lets just say any motor can be built to have massive horsepower and Im happy to see youre doing well with it, but bragging about beating almost stock evos an the highway probably wont sit well with the community. Please dont tell me the Evo was super built either. Another thing to realize that the Evo is not meant for highway racing. Its like trying to compare a funny car to an indy car(dragging versus road racing) and yes that analogy is not overkill. I know how it is because I have a non turbo eclipse that had a turbo put on and I had to always defend myself but there was no way I could keep up with a fully built GSX. One last thing bragging like a 16 year old kid isnt going to get you respect. Its how you carry yourself in the mitsu community that will get you respect. For gods sake I respect someone with a honda(unlike many people here)that had a kill as long as he some taste in doing it.

 

yeah but either car can be tuned for road racing as well. i know the examples have all been on drag racing and highway racing but with suspension and such the lancer is a good little car for the money. i think he was using a stock evo as a reference point not to bash the evo. I personally love the evo, have driven a few and they are great. I have a lancer and love it aswell. If i can beat and evo, i will feel accomplished as that is a great task.

I think everyone needs to calm their egos and attitudes this is a friendly discussion not a how much better a lancer is than an evo thread.

 

not flamin on evos...i love evos...but SOME of the evo owners are sayin is this...if u spent soo much in makin da car this fast...why dont u get an evo....i hear it all the time..and it gets annoying...some of us cant afford an evo....some of us cant afford the insurance....and it feels good inside that you beat a evo with a slow car to start off with...ive seen a lot of N/A lancers switch to evos due to the fact...peeps are insulting them..."ur car is slow".."u should get a evo"....

you know what, That's right, that's all what WE ( the nice people with OZ LANCER's) were saying, I was going to buy an EVO, But to spend $561.78 a month (& that's just the payments) I would get a BMW or a car a lot more classy. the insurance on that car is $300.00 ... I'm happy with my $275.00 a month OZ lancer & I pay about $110.00 for insurance...

 

I know, they always hit on us... but hey, now we really know what our lancers can do

I know what you guys are going through. When I took my n/t tubo eclipse and spent a ton of money building it with a turbo all the gsx and gst owners on dsmtuners.com would give us convertors a hard time. They would always tell us it was a waste and we would be better off getting a factory turbo car. I think its great too take a low horsepower car and turn into a beast. In fact thats what building a car is all about, but like some have said lets not turn this into a grudge match. I know some evo owners have a complex but some of us are pretty humble and dont show off too much so dont classify all evo owners as a@@holes. Evos, OZ's and Ralliarts are all in the same family so we should all support each other.

Evo's are what regular lancers want to be... the fact that they are getting there just shows how true this is. Nothing more.

 

Hey I am all for you guys making your cars fast and competitive. An OZ rally sleeper is great and it will surprise alot of people. I give you props and I hope you go out and kick some unsuspecting assss. However some of the comments on this thread appear to be an attempt to justify your purchase by saying that for less than the price of an Evo I have a car as good(after mods) so why get an overpriced Evo. It comes across Hondaish. This last weekend at Carlsbad raceway a kid with his Honda buddies ask me why I would get the car I have (EVO 8)and dump money in it when I could get a Honda and make it so much better. The kid was serious and I do not need to get into the rest of our conversation. Oh yeah his buddies all motor Hondas were really impressive. I asked what the one on slicks ran and he said he couldn't run cause the slicks rub. Other friend did a 14.9 at 91mph but he has a 13 sec car for sure. Wait you will see the next run his car is fast. Well he was faster this run and blistered the 1320 at 14.3 at 99 mph. Yeah that all motor hatch makes me want to trade my Evo in for a Honda.

 

honda's are fast if you want to run 13's. there come's a point where you say " you know what, I'm tired of everyone with turbo's smoking me" sooner OR later you'll get blown (meaning you'll have a turbo boosting 12/13 LBS of boost)
